COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty Four

Welcome to day 34.

I honestly don’t even know what to say about today, it was a complete write off of napping, walking Drax and playing Animal Crossing. LOL when is this going to be over?

This morning the weather was like this…

IMG_20200421_112659

Now it’s cold but there’s no snow anywhere to be found. The weather has been strange lately but I’m hoping it’ll get warm soon but not too warm, just typical spring weather would be nice. This is why my plants are all inside still, the weather has been so crazy this year that we can’t. One minute it’s warm-ish and sunny then 5 minutes later it looks like the picture above!

Let’s see, tomorrow I want to attempt to finish my cross stitch I made for my friend now that I have grey thread thanks to my amazing neighbour Amanda, hey girl! Then finish the one I started for myself and I need to get started on the rest of the ones I want to make but I have time since I wanted to give these as Christmas gifts (part of).

Mother’s day is coming out and I need to figure something out with my sister. However I can not write it on here because my Mum reads my blog every morning! Hey Mum! Anyone have some good ideas?

That’s about it for today, plants are growing like crazy which I’m excited about. I’m hoping I can actually grow a pumpkin because last time I tried it didn’t happen and my step-dad tricked me by buying a pumpkin and putting it outside next to the vine. I got excited then bummed out lol! Also I have attempted to grow sunflowers before but the squirrels got to it so hopefully that doesn’t happen. I’ll just have to keep getting Drax out on the balcony once it’s nice, he’s been slowly getting interested in them so I’m sure he’ll love that!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty-Three

Happy 4/20!

Today was a blur, I didn’t do much so there’s not much to report. I did get invited to his FitBit challenage that is pretty cool, it’s bingo. I have a month to complete it but it’s insane numbers since the person who invited me does A LOT of steps. It’ll be fun though I guess and I will keep you posted!

I did say I was going to give you updates on my plants, so here it is!

IMG_20200420_182126

Starting with the two pumpkins, they got moved to a large pot since they were getting so big so fast! They’re the mini pumpkins, not those big ones since I only got so much room for these bad boys.

IMG_20200420_182123

Next is the arugula, garlic, spinach, rosemary and cilantro! They got moved to a medium sides one since they’re still small still and need more time to grow before they get in they’re regular pot.

IMG_20200420_182209

And as promised, the sunflower contest. On the left, we have Posty who is CLEARLY winning at the moment and S.F. Malone on the right. Dave is convinced I’m cheating some how but mine just grew fast then his!

That’s all for today, I hope everyone has a good 4/20 if you’re into that!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty Two

Do not cut your hair at home.

Today I watched my step-dad attempt to cut his own hair, it was interesting then my mum attempted to help and that’s when I said fuck it; I went over and cleaned up what they had did. They didn’t do that bad of a job, they were asking me questions before but eventually it was too stressful to watch. Plus my parents did pay for my hair school so they should get to enjoy it LOL

After that interesting part of the day I came home with donuts that Dave wanted and fell asleep on the couch. For some reason I was so tired at that point in the day but now I’m good. Drax went on many walks today and cut his paw on the ground – he does it all the time cause he gets the zoomies. We noticed AFTER he got on the couch so hopefully the blood stain comes off, his paw however is fine. I was a lifeguard for 7 years so cuts are my forte.

For some reason today I also am extremely full! I ate a bagel for breakfast at 830am had a small homemade poutine at 330-4ish pm then didn’t eat dinner. I did however snack throughout the day and that is why I’m full. I had two clementines before coming to get just to tie me over for the night (which probably was a bad thing eating this late).

Tomorrow when it’s bright out again I’m going to take update photos of our plants because they have changed quiet a bit! Dave thinks I’m cheating with this whole who has the bigger, better sunflower. You will see!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty

ONE MONTH!

I can’t believe it’s already been a month for my being in quarantine. I still can’t believe all of this is happening and yet we still have another 28 days. Today on Twitter and Instagram I kept seeing posts saying that all of this social distancing is actual starting to work and we might be starting to open more things. I also saw other places not wanting to open anything for 1 year and a bit. I guess it just depends where you are but still all of this is so weird and scary.

I don’t have much to say about my day because it’s really just the same thing over and over.

This morning I moved all our plants into bigger pots so they can grow big! It’s still cold in Ontario so you can’t put plants outside yet. Tomorrow is suppose to be nice but we’ll see how that goes! Warmer weather will be nice but at least with this colder weather it is keeping people inside.

Not much else is happening.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Nine

Snow, snow, snow.

Did it snow where you live today? This morning I woke up to a beautiful sunny but cold morning. I walked Drax, made my breakfast and started a movie while Dave was asleep. All of the sudden outside went dark and I looked over to see white. It was a blizzard outside. Literally all day that happened so we had to time our walks with Drax to not get caught in a random blizzard. Oh and all the snow, didn’t stay the sun would come back out and it melts.

Today was a meh day, I don’t know if it was the weather or what but I just wasn’t feeling it. Not much was done, I played animal crossing, made oatmeal chocolate chip muffins and started the first season of Ozark. Dave has seen the first season but he’s a bad Netflix boyfriend and watches shows without me. For example the movie I watched this morning was called 13 hours. He woke up an hour into it and said we already watched this! I said no, I’ve never seen this. He once again said we did. 13 hours is based on a true story and I love movies based on true stories and usually get hooked onto them – I have never seen this movie until this morning. Dave finally realized he watched it without me. Do any of you have bad Netflix significant others? Let me know in the comments!

So everyone in the quarantine has been baking, since you know all the flour and yeast have disappeared from grocery stores. What is everyones favourite quarantine recipe? I’ve only really made two new things so mine would have to be the bread, once I find the recipe again on Pinterest I will link it for you. I want to make more things though!

Working out needs to start again so I will figure that out. I want to get Hannah Bowers bands but money, money, money!

Tomorrow morning I’m most likely going to move all our plants into a bigger pot since the roots are coming out the bottom of most of them. I’ll have to take a new picture to keep you updated. My Mum sent me a picture that says, “Happiness is watcning your plant starting to grow.” 100% accurate. I don’t know what it is about it but it does make you happy. Even the succulent my client gave me is growing and THAT makes me happy because I usually kill those but I love them.

How’s everyone holding up? Another month to go, we can do this.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Eight

What day is it?

Today was a stressful blur. Last night and this morning I had a heart attack over the whole CERB thing. On Twitter and Instagram I saw that you need to reapply every month for the CERB, however Twitter and Instagram weren’t very clear when they posted this and sent everyone into a freenzy. We figured it out for the most part and I was done panicking eventually. For more information about this check out Canada Emergency Respone Benefit orĀ Apply for Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) with CRA

So yesterday I totally forgot to tell my funny dinner story. I made spaghetti and homemade meatballs and it was delicious but I didn’t tell you about raining pasta. When Dave and I have spaghetti we break the uncooked pasta because I have a tongue ring and it gets wrapped around it. I was struggling to break the big bundle I had so I made it into two smaller bundles. I broke one bundle in half but pieces went flying everywhere! Like I was standing in my kitchen that over looks my living room, pieces rained down on Dave sitting on the couch, flew to my dogs bed on the other side of the livingroom and by our jackets hanging up on the other side of the house. We laughed then sure enough I did the exact same thing with the second bundle. EVERYWHERE.
Naturally, I didn’t clean it up because I was lazy then ate way to much pasta. The next morning I walked into the bathroom and felt something stuck to my sock, I tried kicking it off but nothing so I lift up my foot and sure enough pasta was stuck in my sock. Needless to say I vaccumed today only to miss a full size pasta noodle! No idea where that one came from!

Today was pretty much a repeat of yesterday, I played with Drax, waited until he went to nap and played animal crossing. Now my plans are to shower and cuddle Drax in bed, living the dream.

The new Animal Crossing game is actually really fun, they added in A LOT, literally building everything from the ground up. I love it but you definitely need some help on what to do because you end up doing nothing. I’ve been doing well for the most part still it’s work this one, but it’s a good thing! The other one you get bored of fishing to pay off your incredibly high loan.

That’s it for today. I’m going to think of more ideas for this blog since I have another month of COVID layoff.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Seven

How is everyone doing today?

My day was a pretty unproductive day. I decided I wasn’t going to watch the news today and I’m in a much better mood, no idea if that is related or not.

My boredom got the best of me today, my boyfriend already had money on his Nintendo account and all I needed to do was get the rest and I could buy the new Animal Crossing game so that’s what I did. Once Drax was all tired out and ready for his afternoon nap I started to play the game. I played all afternoon until Drax woke up and it was time for his dinner and after dinner walk. The game is cool, instead of already coming into a city that is made you are on a island and you have to build it all yourself. Definitely stepped up the game and I’m super excited to unlock all the stuff.

After Drax’s walk I came in to make dinner, we decided on spaghetti and homemade meatballs. Dave said they were going to take long but they only took 25 mins to cook and I timed it so everything would be ready at the same time. Needless to say he was happy I made them because he went for seconds and then started to eat just the meatballs on their own.

Our plants/seeds are growing really well! It’s too bad it’s now snowing in Ontario…in April…

IMG_20200414_213832

So in the big pot we have my sunflower that I named Posty. His roots were growing out the bottom of the cup so it was time for him to upgrade to the big pot.
Top row going left to right: arugula, spinach, rosemary, pumpkin, and cilantro.
Bottom row going left to right: garlic, arugula, spinach, Dave’s sunflower named S.F. Malone, and another pumpkin on the end.

So the reason Dave and I named our sunflowers is for three reasons, 1. I’m obsessed with Post Malone, 2. He has that song Sunflower and 3. Dave and I are having a competition on who will have the bigger and better sunflower. As you can see mine is currently winning the race. Don’t get your hopes up though folks, I tend to kill plants so we’ll see how this really goes.

That’s all folks!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Six

Another 28 days….

Today was another day if doing nothing because I don’t know what to do with myself anymore. I read my Broke Millennial book most of the day, walked Drax and ate my three meals with some snacks of course.

Ford announced today that he’s extending the state of emergency meaning we have another 28 days before anything goes back to normal. I honestly don’t think anything is going back to normal until 2021. Canada or Ontario at least hasn’t even hit the peak yet, all we’re doing is delaying it more and more while keeping the whole province going stir crazy. I know most people I talk too rather just shut everything down and lock everyone up for 2 weeks and be done with it. Then again there would be idiots who went to go play in the park or something even though that’s illegal right now. Stay the fuck home!

In my house hold everyone’s sleeping patterns are so screwed up. My dog is actually awake during the day now, normally he sleeps because we’d usually be at work. Dave’s is completely messed up since he stays up until 3am playing video games and falls asleep on the couch all night. Eventually at 8am, I wake up with Drax and he finally goes into the bedroom until noon. I’ve tried to keep my pattern up but it’s hard when you’ve done nothing all day, not to mention I absolutely hate our mattress. I sleep with Drax most night now because Dave is on the couch (usually Drax night time bed), Drax decided to take Dave’s bed. Drax even uses Dave’s pillow like a human, it’s actually cute.

I feel like I need to start making lists to feel productive. I read somewhere that making lists are good because your brain get’s satisfied for crossing something off and feels productive.

On a positive note, our plants are growing! I will take pictures and post them in tomorrows post!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Four

Rinse, repeat.

This morning was EI report day and it literally took my 5 mins to complete so that was good. This morning was motivating then that went to shit. Breakfast was made, Drax was walked then I sat and read all morning and afternoon about money savings and such.

Eventually I got extremely bored so I gave myself a shitty pedi then painted my toes and hands. I never have my nails done because I’m a hairstylist and my hands are always wet so nothing lasts, not to mention I don’t have time or money for them. Priorites.

After that I got Dave to do a nose pore mask, I put makeup on and cleaned all of my makeup brushes. Wow.

Tomorrow I make turkey dinner for myself, my first turkey dinner on my own so we’ll see how this goes. I got a butterball turkey so this should go easy, I’m also going to make stuffing, carrots, mashed potatoes with gravy and of course I have pumpkin pie. Yum. I’ll post a picture of my mini feast.

Happy Easter Everyone!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Three

Lazy day!

I didn’t even take Drax out for his morning walk, Dave did and I think that’s why my day turned into a lazy one. In the morning we watched the news, made breakfast and chilled out, before we new it it was lunch time.

Dave made me watch the movie DUNE, it was made in 1984 and it was bad. Save yourself the time and don’t bother, I fell asleep during it. I woke up realizing I fell asleep and I need to get gravy from my sister for my turkey dinner.

I also got my pots from storage at my mum’s house because I only have two pots and that’s not enough to make a turkey dinner for one. I’ve had a nice stainless steel set sitting at my mum’s house waiting to be used so I got that, washed it and reorganized my kitchen so everything can fix without looking awful.

The rest of the night was reading my book about being financial stable! It’s called Broke Millennial, I thought it was going to be boring and not be able to understand it and took a shot buying it but my mind it actually blown. I actually understand things and am learning! Who would of thought!

Now I’m laying in bed with Drax about to go to sleep and hopefully be productive tomorrow because I need to clean!
