COVID-19 Layoff: Day Fifty-Five

I could not keep my eyes open last night!

I didn’t write last night because I was SO tired, the night before I didn’t sleep well so it hit me like a brick last night. Yesterday was a typical boring day, the weather was chilly again but not too bad.

Dave and I didn’t do much, we did watch the Purge: Election Year. Dave is scared of horror/thriller movies but one day he randomly put on The Purge tv show and he was fine with it. I told him we should watch all the movies that go with it, it took him awhile but eventually he did it. Election Year is the third movie so I believe there is one more then the new one comes out possible. I’m not sure!

After the movie my neighbour and I hand dinner! We always have these salads that are yummy so we said we’d have a salad night. It’s spinach, broccoli, red onion, green peppers, hard boiled egg, and usual chicken but last night we had salmon, oh you you can’t forget the dressing but I can’t remember what goes in it. It’s yummy.
The rest of the night was just drinking and chatting while entertaining Drax since I deicided to bring him along.

This quarantine is definitely messing with dogs because Drax is extremely whiney and I’ve heard of other people’s dogs being the same way. Thankfully Dave is going back to work next week so that is a start to getting back to normal. If I got out that means Drax gets a break from both of us and gets use to being alone again. Slowly life is getting back to normal!

After dinner I went to bed becaue I couldn’t stay away anymore. I couldn’t believe how tired I was last night, but now I’m nice and refreshed!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Fifty-Two

Hello Winter?

Woke up this morning to the temperature being -2° and felt like -8°…in May!

All the dog walks were freezing, I actually wore my winter jacket again and because it got so cold so fast and started to snow I had a migraine most of the day that would not go away no matter what. Remember when I got burnt like a week ago? LOL

Today was a day of watching Netflix, I finished Dead to Me. It was amazing! If you haven’t watched that show, I highly suggest it. After I watched Becoming, the Michelle Obama mini documentary. I have her book, I just haven’t read it yet. After that I watched Ocean’s 8, Sandra Bullock is amazing and I love all her movies. Once Dave woke up then we watched the new Netflix show Hollywood, we started it the other day and today we finished it. It’s actually pretty good, I think it’s based on true events but I’m not sure. It looks corny but once you get into it it’s really good. Trust me.

That brought us to tonight which for some reason I finally felt like doing Dave’s expenses so I did that until 11:40, showered and now laying in bed attempting to keep my eyes open.

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, incase any of you forgot – here’s your reminder now. Does anyone have something planned for it? Maybe a nice zoom date with your mother? Either way with all that’s going around even a call is just nice. I’m sure all mother’s would appreciate it.

Today was report day, it took me about 2 mins. Pretty sad that something that took me 4 hours to apply for, only takes 2 mins to continue. Not that I’m complaining!

Well, I’m off to bed.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Forty-Nine

Happy Hump Day.

Today was a tiny bit better. This morning Dave had a meeting over Skype so Drax and I just hung out until that was done then morning walks and play time.

The afternoon was pretty much Dave playing my animal crossing and we watched movies again until I got bored and took a Barbicide course for work. I didn’t have too but it was something to do and a good cerification to have with everything going on!

Now that slowly (extremely slow) things are getting back to normal I decided it was time to be active on my hair instagram page. After the course I started posting and getting active again in hopes that we’ll be working soon!

That was pretty much the day, movies and random courses, which is good small step! This weekend is Mother’s Day! Don’t forget about those Mamas! She did carry you for 9 months, or adopted you, or cared for you, or whatever that special woman did for you! Take a moment to (safely) shot out to them!

That’s all for today! Hope everyone is having a good week and keeping safe!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Forty-Four

Today ended up being a good day!

Today was the first day that I was actually productive, the weather definitely helped even though it was crappy out this morning.
The morning started off normal with Drax getting breakfast and then it wasn’t normal. Today was Drax flea and tick medicine day, when he was a puppy he thought it was a treat so he ate it no problem, now he’s a pain in the butt. This thing has a strong smell so of course dogs can smell it even more than humans can. I put it in his breakfast, today breakfast was his sprouts, spinach, pumpkin pure, blueberries and beef with the medicine broken up and mixed into all this food. I could smell it so I knew he could smell it but I was hoping all the food would make it better; this smart cookie ate around the medicine. I mean there was a pile of blueberries to the side that he could eat and EVERY piece of the medicine push to the other side. He was eating so slow so I knew he was being a smart cookie with it so I just took it out of his food and gave it to him like I would a pill then we carried on with our day.

After a walk, eating my breakfast and play time with Drax I started with paying rent, doing my expenses and setting up this months budget plan. Once that was taken care of I started the process of cleaning my apartment, it doesn’t take that long but I was in the mood so I was doing a deep clean! At noon we walked Drax then I left to get pick up the curbside pickup from Kitchen Stuff Plus (favourite store!) so I can start organizing my pantry. I already had some containers from Christmas so that helped, I was focusing on baking needs, flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, etc.

Everything is labelled but it’s just paper taped to the containers, I still need to get the proper labels but that’ll probably be the last thing as paper and tape just works fine for now! I just love organizing! The next shelf is the pasta shelf but that’ll be next month or so!

After Kitchen Stuff Plus I actually stopped by my Mum’s to pick up these Titanic prints in frames that I’ve had for awhile. I have the perfect wall for them in my place so I decided today was the day!
I laid out all the photos on floor and figured out the order, moved our furiture around the way we wanted it, then started to hang the photos only to figure out we don’t have the right size nails and nail holder. We almost didn’t put these pictures up because I knew Walmart was going to have a long line up but I decided to go anyways. I was in line for 12mins and got back home, 30-40min trip! Came home started hanging only to knock on the wall and hear solidness – firewall, aka pure concrete. I start tapping the wall to see if any spot could work and we found one all the way across, then the hooks don’t work so we bend the nail holder to be able to hook onto the frame – finally it works!

Success! Our plan is to get a bench with storage to go beside the “shoe rack” and a side table because the couch in the corner. All in due time though!

Today I remembered to take photos of our plants so here they are!

IMG_20200501_191305

Here we have our herbs/leafs, going left to right, argula is going well, garlic is coming in but slowly, one spinach is going well, the other is dying (no idea why), rosemary is just chilling? and cilantro is coming in nicely! Next up, pumpkins!

IMG_20200501_191237

Pumpkins grow on vines so this bad boy is growing like CRAZY and I hope the weather stays nice so I can put this outside before it gets really crazy inside my house. I hope I actually get a pumpkin out of this! Next up our sunflowers!

IMG_20200501_191345

On the left is mine aka Posty. He is doing well and growing tall, I need to get sticks to help him stand up until he’s strong enough on his own.
On the right is Dave’s aka S.F. Malone. His is coming in nicely and a third is slowly coming in. Dave randomly put fertilzer in his and now his soil is looking weird so hopefully that doesn’t affect it’s growth – bold move.

Dave did plant two new things but they haven’t sprouted so I’ll save you from looking at dirt.

That’s about it. Who do you think will win the bigger and better sunflower? Let me know in the comments.

That’s all for today, hope everyone is staying safe.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty Seven

Good morning!

I forgot to do my blog last night so it’s coming to you this morning! Yesterday morning Dave and I went to Walmart again because we forgot to get stuff plus they didn’t have some stuff! They didn’t have some of the groceries we wanted so we checked if they had that, which they did. The day we bought the BBQ we realized we didn’t get anything else for it besides the BBQ! We went back, got a cover and cooking utensils then had BBQ chicken for dinner. We have used this is everyday since we got it and I’m excited for summer now (assuming the pandemic will be over).

The rest of the day was pretty much just hanging out. At 6pm Post Malone hosted a Nirvana Tribute livestream concert and I of course had to watch is because a. Post Malone and b. Nirvana! It was pretty good, he sounded good and had Travis Barker do the drums so that’s cool!

After that not much happened, Dave played his videogames and I hung out on the couch until I was tired. Hense forgetting to blog!

I did weigh myself last night which was a big mistake and now I need to focus on losing weight again. Too much snacking is happening and not enough exercise!

That’s all for this morning, I’ll be back with tonights post later on!

Canada Day!

I am Canadian and Canada Day just passed (as well as the 4th of July for my American followers). This year I decided I was going to take part in celebrating Canada, I had great company at the Jays game and fireworks in the evening!
