Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – Hex Mega Matte

I got this to wear in the fall and winter while I was at school plus for work. I was worried because it was dark but I just went for it and loved it. The colour is great, it lasts for awhile but it is drying since it is a matte finish. I got this at Sephora for $22.00.

Skin Care Favourite:

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream

I actually got this as a gift, it was a part of a set called 10 Days of Clinique. I’m sure you all know by now that I’m a little obsessed with Clinique products, I know! I will expand out soon! I actually like this product, it’s light weight and adds moisture to your eyes which is good now since it’s freezing pretty much everywhere in the world and it’s drying our skin out! You can get this at Sephora for $33.00.

Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Thermal Round Brush Set

Most of you may know that I’m a hair stylist which I ended up needing new round brushes so I got the Olivia Garden ones and I’m in love! They’re light weight, have a comfortable handle, they don’t snag on the hair and it comes with a sectioning pick in the bottom of each brush. You can get these on different websites for roughly $130.00 for the set.

Body Favourite:

Sephora Hand Mask – Avocado

Being a hair stylist my hands are constantly in water which dries them out badly. I would put lotion on but it didn’t seem to work, my hands just soaked it up and continued to be dry. With this because it was thick and it soaked in it my hands were as good as new after using this; plus it smelt amazing! You can get these at Sephora for $8.00.

Christmas Lights

In December when all the Christmas lights go up it just becomes a magical time. I love seeing houses lit up at night, especially when there’s some snow! I hope everyone had a great holiday!

Merry Christmas

Now that the Christmas madness is over and done with lets recap. First off, how was everyone’s Christmas? Let me know in the comments!

I’m just gonna write a little bit of what happened on my holidays.

Dec 24th, 2014 – I think I previously wrote that I go to my dad’s house and spend the eve with him. We went up there pretty early but it’s alright we got to spend some time with them before all the people came over. At one point my boyfriend and my dad went upstairs to have naps – I’m dating my father – it was pretty funny but the girls stayed downstairs, had shots and cheers to having great sex in the future! We woke up the boys about an hour later because we wanted to open our gifts, at this point I felt really bad for my boyfriend because there was pretty much nothing for him and he was bored. I knew at my mum’s house he would have a lot more gifts and stuff he would like. Anyways, we opened the gifts and people started to come over, it was just some family friends and people they work with, we all had some food and talked in the kitchen – kitchen party as my family calls it. The weather was starting to get bad, my sister and my bestfriend had a long drive back home and my boyfriend and I had a long drive to his mother’s house to open gifts there. When we got there we had to wait for the rest of the family but it wasn’t that long of a wait. We opened our gifts and went on with our day.

Dec 25th, 2014 – For the past couple of weeks I haven’t been able to sleep, I always wake up at 5am and just end up sitting there. Since it was Christmas I was hoping my sister would wake up at that time but she didn’t; which is weird since she normally does. We got up and opened gifts, we got spoiled that’s for sure. After all the excitement settled down we all went a did our own thing for a couple hours before the madness started up again, I took a nap. My boyfriend came over because we had to go to his mum’s house for Christmas lunch, we walked in the door and started eating right away, we weren’t there for long but that’s how the family works. We headed back to my house where my family was there now, we ate dinner, had desert and my uncle who I hate came over. I won’t get into details about why I don’t like him, lets just say he is an asshole, but the one thing I’m going to write is his one child is such a brat. This kid, who is 9 years old, was yelling at his father to give him alcohol. This kid wouldn’t shut up about it until my boyfriend said you can have alcohol when I throw it up, see what it does to you. The kid didn’t speak of it again and thankfully for that. By the end of the night I wanted to punch my uncle so I left to my boyfriend’s house.

Dec 26th, 2014 – Today is the worst day when it comes to Christmas days. Not because the malls are packed but because I have to go back to my dads to see my step-mums side of the family. My step-mum has been around for about 5 years now, the family still doesn’t talk to me or anyone else no matter how hard we try. The first time I went to their boxing day dinner was the worst one ever, my sister said she wasn’t going and I went with my boyfriend at the time. You think because it was the first time meeting these people that they would be nice and try talking to us to make us more comfortable, right? Nope I ended up sitting there talking to my boyfriend about how we wanted to leave. Anyways, we pretty much did our own thing, my older step brother brought over my secret Santa gift and told me I was hiding but my bestfriend had just gotten there and I didn’t want her to be eating alone. It’s actually sad but at least it was at my house so I could do whatever I wanted to do. I was really tired so we left around 9 – 10, it was fun seeing my dad again though. In the new year I’m going to make it so I go up to see him at least once a month because it’s not fair we never see each other and I really do need to make a better effort.

That’s pretty much my Christmas madness, how was yours?

I hope everyone had a good one and an even better New Year! See you in 2015!

Black Friday Shopping + Officially Christmas

How many of you did your Black Friday shopping?

I live in Canada so it wasn’t as big as it would be in the states, I also only went to one store which was Walmart. I didn’t even want to go shopping but my boyfriend wanted to get 2DS games. It was probably the worst shopping experience I’ve had, Walmart has all their games locked up behind some glass and there was so many people lined up for iPads and Tablets that no one was paying attention to any other product by electronics. My boyfriend and I waited for 15-20 mins just to get a game unlocked from this cabinet, it was ridiculous.

When we finally got our games and stood in line it was taking forever, they had people who didn’t even work in electronics working there but all they did was end up standing there. People would walk up to them and ask can you unlock this or help answer me this and these people were like I can’t but I can get someone that can. What was the point of you being there? Useless people I tell you. We ended up getting Mario Kart 7 and Zelda for my boyfriend.

The funny part was we didn’t even have our 2DS yet, they were still coming in the mail, which we were bumped by because when you buy something all you want to do it just play with it right? We were sitting on the couch and saw the mailman come, it was awesome. Just as we said we wish they were here they arrived!

My house is officially Christmased out! We put up all our decorations, both our trees, our Christmas lights have been up forever but that’s okay. I’m also almost done my shopping! I only have one person left to get which they sent me their list today but I’m lazy so I don’t know if I’m getting it today.

Alright, thanks for reading my lazy blog!

The Right Way to Christmas Shop

I live in Canada so Thanksgiving is over, Halloween is around the corner and all the stores are putting out their Christmas stuff. Before you know it the next time you’re at the mall you’re in the crazy, madness, stressing out about what to get the cousin of yours. We’ve all been there, even I, but this year is the year I’m changing the way I shop!

In this post I’m going to let you know how I’ve planned my Christmas shopping and got right to it at the start of October!

Lets begin…

First you want to figure out who the hell you’re buying for. Write it all down, write every single name you think you should buy a gift for this year. Mine looks like this…

1. Mum                        6. Step-Dad
2. Dad                          7. Step-Mother
3. Sister                       8. Boyfriend’s Mum
4. Step-Brother          9. Dog
5. Boyfriend               10. Cat

I have way more then ten people, don’t worry if the list is big. Now that you’ve gotten that out of the way, on a different sheet of paper just brain storm some ideas for each person. I’m going to use my sister as an example; all you have to do is right whatever comes to mind.

Sister:

– car matts
-batta fish
-batta fish tank
-batta food
-GPS
-Pandora bracelet
-Tim Hortons gift card
-Starbucks gift card
-air freshener for car

Now to someone else this make not make any sense but to explain my sister just got her first car and she wants a batta fish, that’s why those were my main focuses.

TIP! If you really can’t think of anything for someone, take them out shopping with you one day and see what they pick up and talk about. Or just listening to them and see what they need around the house, for their cars or something that will help them.

Once you’ve brain stormed for every person and have it all written down, the next step is to figure out from that list you actually want to get them. Going off of my sister’s list, I know my mum will be buying her the car stuff (NOTE: communicate with friends and family so you don’t buy doubles!) so my next go to thing is a batta fish.

Now my sister has had fish before but that’s when we were younger, I started off buy going to a pets store and picking up some information about batta fish. Pet Smart is a great place to go, they have free paper brochures with everything you need and even health concerns to look out for in the pet. Once I got that I got a small tank, the tank I got came with food, gravel and water cleaning solution.

I got her that at the start of October, I haven’t bought anything else for her but slowly with each pay I get a little more gifts. I’ve been slowly buying gifts since the start of October so by the time November comes, I’ll mostly be done my shopping. Now because the first gift that I got for my sister came with everything I just need to worry about getting the fish, but that can wait closer to Christmas time.

In the end, go over your list/brain storming one more time just to make sure you didn’t miss anything or maybe someone told you, “oh I really want this for Christmas.” Once all that is done, it’s time a start wrapping those gifts!

So lets recap and write in point form.

1. Figure out who you’re buying for by writing all the names down.
2. On different sheet of paper brain storm ideas of what to get that person. Do for each persons name you wrote down.
3. Out of that brain stormed list, pick something you actually want to buy them.
4. Do a litter research on which one is best/any info you may need/where to buy.
5. Every time you’re out buy one part of each person, slowly. It doesn’t have to be done all in one sitting.
6. Go over you list and make sure you’ve gotten everything.
7. Start wrapping!

I know it may seem confusing the way I wrote it but you get what I’m saying..maybe.

Hopefully this was somewhat helpful!

Christmas Day

I didn’t write about Christmas day the other day so I am now.

I couldn’t sleep that night for some reason so I woke up early with my sister, when I came down they were still making breakfast and my step dad was still getting up. I was just sitting there waiting for everyone and waiting to give my boyfriend’s gift to my parents. When I did give them the gift they thought he was crazy and said he didn’t need to do that. It was a gift card to Swiss Chalet for $50.00.

We always start with our stockings because that’s what the whole world does I believe. My mum makes some pretty cool stockings or they seem cool to me for some reason. In my stocking I got face cream, face wash, scratch cards, Doctor Who mini figure, nail polish remover wipes, chocolate, Doctor Who book, itunes card, perfume, and more but I can’t think of it at the moment.

Next we go onto the gifts, my mum let me open up this huge one, it was a dresser that I’ve been asking forever because I have the smallest room and the smallest closet and no room for any of my clothes. We kept opening gifts and things just got better and better. Some things my mum makes my sister and I open at the same time because it’s from the same store or something like each others, so this time we opened something from coach. I got the purse that I wanted and my sister got the watch that she wanted. The gifts I got from my mum if I can remember them all are the purse, dresser, football for dummies book, Doctor Who book (second one), case for my tablet, Doctor Who cookie jar, Doctor Who mug, Doctor Who glasses that changed colour when they is a cold drink in it, a roots sweater, many DVDs, lulu yoga shorts and top, yoga cats calendar, can’t cook cookbook, laundry basket, throw blanket, socks, and duck soap on a rope.

After putting my dresser in my room my boyfriend calls me telling me that he had to be home for dinner at four. I was upset because he said he was going to be at my house for dinner. He told me to relax and that he was going to be there, then all of the sudden he asked if I could be at his house for dessert, I told him to just stay there because I had family coming over too. He then said that he wanted me to meet his nona and that we would go to his house then go back to my house for dinner. When I got there everyone was asleep because they were so tired, I opened my gifts and my boyfriend went up to nap as well. He woke up to hearing people in his house so we got up and went down stairs. I was in the kitchen leaning on the wall not paying attention to anything behind me when I heard someone say excuse me. I turned around to find an old lady with my boyfriend standing behind her, she asked me if I was his girlfriend which I said yes to. She shook my hand then kissed both my cheeks, she didn’t say much but she seemed nice and my boyfriend said that she liked me. I ended up sitting beside my boyfriend’s mum and my boyfriend at dinner. His mum is really nice to me and I like her so I will help her out if she asks me. Anyways, dinner went fine I barely ate because I knew I had to eat again, we said goodbye to people and left for my house. My boyfriend finds meeting new people so easy so I wasn’t worried about him at all, he had a lot of gifts to open which he loved from both me and my family.

Some of my family that I actually like was at my house for dinner, we had a good time drinking then we watched the new Doctor Who episode. I’m so sad the Matt Smith is no longer the doctor! My boyfriend was so sweet to my switch was fun and stayed over for awhile then had to go home because he worked.

The night was pretty much over at this point and everyone went to bed. Christmas was fun and stressful but when isn’t it right? I hope all of you had a great Christmas!

My cool ass uncle

December 23rd is when my cool ass uncle came over to my house like I said in a previous post. My uncle always comes to my house with donuts and coffee/hot chocolate, it’s something you get to look forward too. He is the only uncle I have that is actually so interested in what my sister and I do and will actually come with us to weird ass things that we would have no one else to go with. For years he has been trying to get Rob Zombie tickets for him and I but I always end up having a big baseball tournament when he comes to my city, this year he said that he will get Jays tickets and we will go see a game! I love the Jays so I’m pretty excited about that – he actually keeps his word so I know this will happen! Anyways, we talk the night away, he travels a lot so we get to hear all of his stories and sometimes see some pictures. I never really get to see him so it’s actually so much fun to see him, which needs to happen more which my sister and I will make it more.

He dropped off our gifts and we opened them on Christmas, he always gets us something small but it’s always something good. For me he got me season 1 and 2 of Sons of Anarchy, season 1 of The Walking Dead and an LCBO gift card that I can use on new years!

Ice Storm 2013

It is official, the storm I was talking about my previous post has been hash tagged “ice storm 2013.” The storm got worse over right, literally every parking lot is a sheet of ice, every tree has either fallen over or parts broke off, half the city doesn’t have power and isn’t expected to get power until Christmas day. If you stand by a window you will hear cracking of a tree that is falling over, it’s actually a creepy sound. My boyfriend picked me up at 12:30 PM last night, so everyone was in their houses and there was no cars, all I could hear is the trees by the school I live fall down. I didn’t know what tree it was because they were so loud I thought they were the ones by me. Salt doesn’t do anything for the ice that is everywhere, you literally have to scrap it off if you don’t want to slip. Hydro lines have fallen down because we put the lines along the roads where the trees are so that’s why the power is off.

Early a generator exploded and it made the sky go purple, red and blues in Toronto. It’s honestly really bad here, trees are falling on houses, people and pets. Everyone is still in the Christmas rush so they aren’t following the rule if the stop lights aren’t working, treat it as a four way stop. When I drove by the mall on my way home, the parking lot was still packed. Both my boyfriend and I work in rec centers, he is maintenance and I’m a lifeguard. He had to go into work because even though all the programs are cancelled the recs turn into safe havens, so people with no power can go there to warm up. If they need people to do first aid they could call all the lifeguards to come help out but that would only happen in a really bad situation.

The radio here is nothing but where to go if you don’t have power, how to drive, telling everyone to go slow and don’t rush anywhere, the weather and telling everyone to stay inside. The weather for here is that the ice storm warning is over but it is still raining, it’s getting warm so it’s really foggy now but later tonight the temperature is suppose to drop so everything will be a sheet of ice again. This weather is going to be here for awhile as long as it stays this cold and even if it does get warm it will melt but at night it always drops below freezing.

Cleaning off your car is terrible, the scrapper wasn’t even working on the car windows. My boyfriend just started to beat the window with the brush do it would crack so you can even get the scrapper to get under the ice. It worked but don’t bang too hard. My friend actually was using a blow dryer to get into her car which would work but would take all day long.

My family is just chilling at home and getting ready for Christmas and avoiding the storm. Tomorrow people start coming over so we have to go down to meet them to keep them from falling. My family parks underground and we have a two car parking spot, tomorrow we are going to get my uncle to park there then walk up the long way so we don’t have to walk on ice.

This is just my point of view, I know people will have a worst story to write about since trees are falling on houses and cars. Please be careful out there!

Welcome to Canada

Christmas is only 3 days away, that is absolutely crazy. This year has gone by so fast that it is kind of sad. My year started out really shitty but somehow got great. I work tonight, then I go to my boyfriends then all my Christmas madness starts when I get home. On Monday my uncle is coming over – he’s the uncle I always like so I want to see him and I want to talk a picture with him. Then after that all the other madness happens that I wrote before in a different post.

Welcome to Canada

I don’t know if you guys know this but I live in Toronto, Ont, Canada. If you’ve looked at the weather for us it has been typical winter weather but all of the sudden it decided to half snow and half rain – making it ice pretty much. It rains all day long but as soon as it starts to turn into night the ground freezes making it one big sheet of ice. I went to sushi last night with my friends, when we were done we had to skate our way to the car. It was actually so funny because the driveway is on a hill but at the same time it was very dangerous. I hope when I go to work tonight and walking to my boyfriend’s car I don’t fall on my ass. I don’t have a picture for you guys from myself but I am going to steal one off of Facebook from a friend.

Now you can see what the hell is going in here.

Christmas Traditions

Over the years my family has done Christmas we sort of have a routine that we follow. My parents are divorced and my dad moved away so we just do our Christmas on Christmas eve now. My mum on the other hand there is a whole bunch.

1. Try to wake up Maeghan (aka me) – so when I was younger I was NOT a morning person. Trying to wake me up was a very dangerous thing because if you did it the wrong way you would either get yelled at or I would hit you.

2. Tell my sister to go back to bed at 4 AM – my sister is the one who gets so excited over Christmas is our family. She will wake up at 4 AM and try to get the whole family up. She usually comes into my room and tells me that Santa came or to get up, which I don’t. She then would go to my mum’s room and try to wake me up but they would tell her to go to bed. Now and days my sister just waits in her room until it’s time or she makes coffee for everyone.

3. Croissants – ever since my parents divorced my mum made it a thing that she would make croissants in the morning. That would be our breakfast as we opened up our stockings. Now my whole family is up at this point but myself, they let me sleep as long as possible because I hate waking up early, especially if I’m hungover from the Christmas Eve party.

4. Terrible pictures – every year my mum takes pictures of us as we open up our gifts, but as you know no one looks good right after they just woken up. None of these pictures have every made it to Facebook but this year I will be posting them so I am going to look great before I come down to open gifts.

5. Opening gifts – some of my sister’s gifts and mine are the same or similar so when we open up our gifts they sometimes take forever because we have the open some things at the same time. It’s funny though and makes the whole process fun.

6. After math – after opening all our gifts we all decided to put things together or go through them once again and actually give a good look at things. I think everyone in the world does this.

7. Family comes over – after all of that we have to deal with all of our family come over. This is very interesting because our house is small and we have all these people coming over. Some of the people we don’t like too much so I stay down for about an hour then go up to my room.

What about you?

Alright I want to know what you guys do for Christmas or what weird traditions you have to do each year. Leave them in a comment and maybe I will make a list or something! So leave your name and your weird traditions/things you do on Christmas!

Rum Balls

About a month ago when I was getting into all the Christmas stuff I was looking through a Christmas cookbook, I wanted to make something for when everyone comes over. I decided to make rum balls which was funny because the same day I was looking at the book my mum tells me that she wanted to make rum balls, I told her I was thinking the same thing.

After work today my mum got all the ingredients so we could make them. Now I’m a really bad cooker/baker in general, I can’t cook for shit and everyone knows it. I told my mum that we should do it tonight and she said she was too tired and for me to go ahead. I walked out to the kitchen and started with everything. I first had to crush cookies which took awhile, then I had to put in powdered sugar which my sister thought we had but we didn’t have enough so we had to make more. My mum didn’t know that you can just put normal sugar into a grinder and it makes icing sugar. Then I had to chop up walnuts and mix all of that together, next was mixing booze and corn syrup together then pouring it into all the other stuff and mixing that. I’m a very messy person apparently and while doing this I somehow got rum on me. Next step was the roll the mixture into small balls and roll them into more icing sugar then put them in a container and let them sit for five days.

I have no idea if they are going to taste good, I have a feeling they are going to be strong but that’s alright. I just really hope they taste good or people won’t eat them and I will feel like shit and will probably never try to make food every again! I will write how they are in five days!
