The Magic School Bus was an animated children’s television show that was based of a book series by Joanna Cole and Bruce Begen. The TV show premiered in 1994 and it was pretty much a fun way to learn about science.
The Magic School Bus took place at a school and on their bus. Their teacher, Ms. Frizzle, took her kids Ralphie Tennelli, Carlos Ramon, Phoebe Terese, Kessha Franklin, Tim Jamal, Dorothy Ann, Janet Perlstein, Wanda Li, and Arnold Matthew Perlstein on science adventures!
The show talks about a 100 different things so you can’t just pick one, it was 100% a great way to learn about science; I have friends who knew stuff before they were taught it in school all because they watched The Magic School Bus!
I loved this show, so check it out on YouTube if you real like watching more and let me know what you think!
Barney & Friends was an American television series that featured a purple Tyrannosaurus Rex who conveys educational messages through songs and small dance routines. The first episode aired April 6th, 1992, says Wikipedia.
Barney was the main character that everyone knew and loved when they were kids, when they turned into a teenager we all started to think he was pretty creepy.
Baby Bop is a three year old green Triceratops, she wears a pink bow while always carrying a yellow security blanket.
B.J is the big brother to Baby Bop, he is a seven year old Protoceratops that always wears a red baseball cap and red sneakers. Why B.J is a different dinosaur is beyond me but we didn’t know what as kids.
Riff was an orange six year old Protoceratops who wears green sneakers.
Each dinosaur had their own songs and interest that taught kids ages 1 to 8 years old.
Now I don’t personally remember watching this as a kid but my mum tells me I loved this show and would watch it all the time.
Let me know if you watched this show or if you had kids that watched it!
Thanks for reading,

Elefun was an elephant that had a long plastic trunk that propelled paper butterflies out of it, it came with nets that you use to catch as money butterflies as you could before they touched the floor. This game was made in 1993 but was remade and released a bunch of different times, they even have a spin off called, “Elefun Busy Ball Popper.”
I remember playing Elefun like it was yesterday! I was a pretty short kid so I always had to look up but it was still the best game. I remember my sister didn’t always want to play with me but it was fine since you could play on your own.
The worst part about this game was that the trunk was so long! Getting the game started took awhile for me because you had to hold it up, turn it on and make sure the trunk filled with air so it would stay up. That wasn’t the easiest task when you’re a short kid.
In the end there was no real complaints about this game, I thought it was the best and had great fun with it!
Let me know if you had this game and what you thought of it!
I believe I speak for every student, past and present, when you walked into science class and saw that huge TV you knew it was going to be a great class. It could go two ways, (a) a really boring movie that you probably never paid any attention to or (b) the awesome Bill Nye the Science Guy!
Bill Nye the Science Guy was an educational show that focused on all things science. Each teacher always made a worksheet that had questions you needed to look for as you watched, the best part was that all the questions were in order so you just went along and wrote.
Bill Nye made whatever topic he was talking about interesting and easy to understand.
The Show was only 30 mins long and had a great theme song that got stuck in your head. For the rest of the day you’d be saying, “Bill, Bill, Bill!” It was fun though!
Well that’s all folks! Let me know if you liked these shows in class and if so which one was your favourite?
Etch-A-Sketch was/is a mechanical toy that uses a stylus to displace aluminum powder on the back of its screen; that powder leaves a solid line, according to Wikipedia. To erase the picture/line all you had to do was shake it or turn it upside down and boom, there you have a blank screen.
Now it was created in the 60’s so I wouldn’t call it a 90’s toy but it has been doing on strong enough that all these kids from 1960 to 2015 remember this awesome toy.
The best part about this toy was that it lasted a life time and no one was ever good at drawing on it. Now and days there’s people who make epic pictures on it but when you were a kid you pretty much made box pictures!
(Your typical box drawing that I would of done as a kid)
(Example of now and days awesome drawings people can do)
It was kind of hard to use as a child because one knob (left) moved the stylus horizontally and the right knob moved it vertically; it definitely took some skill.
This toy was amazing no matter how hard it was and it’s still amazing to this day. Let me know if you had one and what your favourite memory of it was!
The Easy Bake Oven has been around for quite awhile and is still going strong to this day. All it was was a small oven that came with cake mix and small round pans back in the day and now it’s grown into bigger and better things!
The one I had was a big different than what it is now, it was a picture of on oven on the front, one side you put the pan in with the cake mix and the freshly baked cake would come out the other side; all you had to do was add water and you were a great little baker!
The one now and days is pretty much the same concept it just looks different and it can cook a lot more than just cakes.
They have so many different products you can buy just for this one oven, it has oven pan refills and different types of pans, and even a decorating pen. They make so many different foods now such as, red velvet cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, mini whoopie pies, strawberry cakes, cake pops, pretzels, cheese pizza, sugar cookies and mix party dippers! Now that’s a step up!
This toy was pretty awesome in the 90’s the only problem was when you ran out of the mix and your parents wouldn’t buy you the refills! Maybe I would be more of a baker if I used this more or maybe not but it was still different and fun!
Let me know if you had the old style Easy Bake Oven or if you know any kids that have the new version and let me know what you think!
“During a preview tour, a theme park suffers a major power breakdown that allows it’s dinosaur exhibit to run amok.” says IMDb on their Jurassic Park page.
This movie was just plain bada**, excuse the language, but it’s the truth. This was my favourite movie when I was a child and my favourite part was when the guy gets eaten off the toilet by a dinosaur.
Just picture a four year old with long, curly hair watching a man get eaten by a dinosaur, then yelling, “Again! Again!” My mum would rewind the VHS, yes VHS, then watch it all over again with a huge smile on my face.
Right now there’s three movies, Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and Jurassic Park III (2001). There’s a fourth one coming out this June 2015 – Jurassic World. I’m pumped and everyone who grew up with these movies is pumped. Now I’m not going to tell you about these movies because I want you to go watch them for yourselves! Once you guys have, let me know in the comments what you thought!
Remember the Flintstones and how they drove their “cars”? That’s what I use to call my Little Tikes car. Now i know these are still around with different colours and styles but my old style car is the best one.
My Little Tikes car had an orange body, yellow roof, black front bars, black wheels and tires and not to forget the fake white gas cap. You had to use your feet to move the car, it was the hardest thing when I was young. I was always a really short kid, reaching the ground wasn’t a common thing in my life which would make my feet get stuck under the car! The struggle was real back in the day.
The downside to this car was you could never go fast! You could only move as fast as your legs could move but even then, there wasn’t much leg room.
In my family, we will forever remember this car because it has a family story.
When I was about 4-5 I was sitting on the roof of the Little Tikes car, I was watching TV, I have no idea why my parents let me up there but it wasn’t a worry to them. In the house that I grew up in there was a long hallway that connected the bedrooms to the living room/kitchen/dining room. That day my sister was mad at me, so she came running down the hallway and pushed me off the car. I landed on my shoulder and broke my collarbone. I ended up having to wear a sling for a couple of weeks. My mum now has a Christmas ornament of the car!
All in all this little car was a pretty awesome toy and every kid loved it!
