COVID-19 Layoff: Day Six

Today I actually got to leave the house!

My morning went something like this…Drax woke me up at 8am, feed him, walk him, dishes, make bread (!), make breakfast, fight with boyfriend (anyone else want to murder their significant other?), wait for Trudeau to speak, he said nothing of importance, get ready, get shit done.

The bread went so well and I’m trying not to eat the whole thing in one sitting. I made the dough the day before then it had to rise for 8-24 hours. In the morning I preheated the oven (that takes forever so I took Drax on his walk), once that was done I put Dutch oven in the oven for 30 mins, take that out, put dough in and bake away. It baked for 45mins (depending on your oven).

Finished bread!

I’m trying so hard to eat it all but I already had 2 pieces.

I went to the post office to mail out my ROE, I got tracking on it so I can see where it goes and when it gets there (since it’s important and all). I’ll check on that tomorrow and try not to freak out. My boyfriend wanted to go to Walmart to get a movie so we went and instantly felt the anxiety of being in that store with people. I wanted to get out so fast because now I don’t trust people even more (trust issues!). Came home and chilled out doing quarantine things like our puzzle! Dave did most of it today and I spent my time filling in the holes he made. We killed it today!

KILLING IT! If you look at yesterday’s post you’ll see the other progess photos.

Welp, that’s all folks. Today was mostly puzzle day.

Stay tuned for more excited adventures.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Four

I don’t even know what to say? LOL the highlight of my day would have to be the chocolate dip I bought for my strawberries and me finishing my poop emjoi cross stitch! I don’t know what that says about me but you know!

I finished my cross stitch in the morning (after my dog let me sleep in, party!), I made a few mistakes but my amazing teacher told me it’s okay and you make it my own so I did! Not bad for my first time doing this ever! Now I’m working on another one that has words and it takes forever just to do one letter! It’ll keep me busy (we have another week of this bullshit minimum).

Poop emjoi with a heavy lean

Strawberries and chocolate dip, need I say more? I’m going to gain quarantine 15! Maybe I should incorporate a workout into this situation? Meh.

Welp, I went to four different stores to try to find active dry yeast only to come home with nothing. Once again my amazing neighbor saves the day and she had a packet. Neighbors are awesome, that’s all I gotta say! Bread to be made tomorrow most likely, so there’s THAT to look forward too!

Stayed turned for more adventures.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Three

Dog walk, puzzle and cross stitch, repeat.

If it wasn’t for those three things I would be going insane (too late)! My day started off with me being in an grumpy-ish mood and progress into more grumpy, just one of those days.

Not much happened today, Dave and I have been KILLING it at our puzzle (photos to come later), dog walks are a must and I discovered cross stitch (thanks to my neighbour Amanda, the same person who dropped off the delicious bread). I don’t know why I was so dumb when reading the instructions so I messaged her and she came to the rescue to show me. I’m absolutely obsessed and now want to look up designs and create them! Stay tuned for that!

That’s pretty much it, drinks have started and we continue to cross stitch the night away.

Stay tuned for more fun adventures.

Cat’s Product of the Month (June)

Hey everyone,

Today I wanted to talk about a mascara that I love! It is called Better than Sex mascara.

This product does everything you want it too: big eyelashes that separate so it looks like you’re wearing eyelash extensions. My favourite colour is it in dark black. It is waterproof yet can come off with a makeup remover wipe (may take some effort).

The only negative thing I can say is that I find the product dries out and becomes very clumpy very quickly over time. Once that occurs it still gives you the desired effect yet your eyelashes make stick together from time to time.

I still love this product and use it if I am going out and want a dramatic effect on my lashes.

You can find this Product at Sephora for $30.00

Breakup To Makeup Bag

Awhile back I went shopping with my sister and found this at Sephora. It’s a makeup bag that reminds you no matter what happens in life, you can still truck on and be strong. There’s three different bags, mine is the one above, the others say, “Losing you hurt but losing my makeup bag would be a tragedy” and “Life is short, wear more makeup.” It’s a pretty good bag, I don’t have that much makeup so it all fits in the one bag but if you do have a lot of makeup it’s a good travel makeup bag. These bags are vegan and cruelty-free so they’re badass. You can get these bags at Sephora for $30.00.

Up & Up Sport Sunscreen Continuous Spray – SPF 30

Summer is officially here so we need to protect ourselves! I say this a lot because I have ginger skin even though I’m not a ginger, I burn easy and burns hurt and can turn into cancer and what not. We just don’t want that. In my opinion you don’t need to spend a lot of money on sunscreen, they all have the same thing in it just different brands. For your face, maybe you should spend a little bit more on it but for the rest of your body whats the point? The only thing you really need to focus on is the SPF. Ever since Target was in Canada I used theirs but they are no longer here as you guys all know! I don’t even know how much this was because I got it awhile ago but it’s not expensive at all.

Hair Care Favourite:

Aveda Sun Care After-Sun Hair Masque

I live for this stuff! I wrote about the shampoo awhile ago in one of my monthly favourites but here is the masque that you use after the shampoo. As I’ve said before I work in a pool so my hair gets damage easily. The shampoo gets all the chlorine, salt, and product build up out and this restores your hair. Ever since I bought this again after awhile of not using it my hair hasn’t turned blonde from the chlorine bleaching it, and my hair stays soft. I use it after every time I come out of the water, and on Thursday I use it about 3 times in one day. You can get this at Aveda for $27.00.

Aveda Singular Notes: Vanilla Absolute

A couple months ago when I went shopping with my sister we stopped at Aveda to get chlorine shampoo, they had these sweet donation that if you donated $10 you get a back massage. When they did it you get to pick the smells you want to relax you and what not. This is the one I used, it smelt amazing, it made the massage THAT much better, it was honestly heaven. You can get this at Aveda for $27.50.

Nexus 7 Tablet

I got this a couple years ago for Christmas from my loving mum. This is such a badass gift because you can do so much on a tablet, I watch movies all the time on here or use it when my phone needs to be charged. It’s great, I don’t believe they sell this one anymore but they have new versions! Any electronic store will have tablets for sale.

Music Favourite:

Cheerleader by OMI

I’m sure you’ve heard this song before since it’s all over the radio but I’m in love with this song, it’s a great beat for the summer! Check it out.

Fujifilm Instax Share Printer SP-1

I heard about this awhile ago and I thought it was just one of those things people make up and it doesn’t actually exist. I was actually in Best Buy one day and I saw it, I grabbed it right away and bought it with a couple of films to go with it. This thing is amazing, there’s an app you can download and it works wireless through WiFi. I’ve printed off about 12 pictures from my phone from this. It’s great and it goes well with the cameras they have.

Throw Back Thursday: Doodle Bear

Doodle Bear was a normal toy stuffed animal that came with markers so you could draw on it. The good part was that Doodle Bear was put in the wash and the markers would be gone so you could start drawing on it again!

tumblr_lve7htzYKH1r4rjlko1_500

I actually loved this bear so much, I thought it was pretty cute and cuddle; not to mention I got to draw on it without getting into trouble!

(Fresh and clean!)

Now and days they have a new version of this toy but I think the old ones look better than the new, tell me what you think.

Did you have a Doodle Bear?

Titanic: The Musical

Spoiler Alert! There is details about the musical in this blog, if you plan on seeing the musical in person read at your own risk – spoilers!

My family and friends all know that I’m in love with the movie Titanic. I’ve been to museums, I’ve read numerous of books, I even have a fake heart of the diamond necklace. I know the heart of the diamond isn’t real and it was just put in the movie but I still am really interested in the crash and all the people that were on it.

I was on the Toronto website that had ideas of what people could do for the summer, Titanic The Musical was on the website. Now my mum was the only person who would come with me since I watched the movie a million times when I was younger and ruined it for my sister. We got tickets a couple weeks early so we could get great seats.

We ordered our tickets online, a couple days before they email you all the tips you need to know. They told us when we need to be there, that you can pre-order drinks and snacks for intermission.

We drove to Toronto early and went to the restaurant called Elephant & Castle, it was a British Pub and had really good food. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling very well so I didn’t eat too much but still the food was good. After we ate we walked down to the theatre, figured out where we need to go to find our seats, went to the washroom before the show (this is a good idea by the way) then we got drinks and pre-ordered drinks and snacks for intermission.

Our seats were great in my opinion, they were on the second balcony of the Princess of Wales Theatre. Our seats were on the end and only the second row. The moment you walk in you can see the set, there is a guy that sits at the table like he is working then the musical starts! The set is amazing, it looks like the deck and the way they use it makes perfect sense.

The two best parts about the set is they had trap doors for the engine room that steam comes out of it and when the boat sinks that set moves to act like it is actually sinking! Honestly for the first time going it was a great musical to see!

I was sad when it finished because it was great and I had an amazing time with my mum, it was a great mother-daughter date!

I did take a picture of the set but I’m not going to post it since I’ve already given so many details.

Let me know if you saw the Titanic Musical and let me know what you thought of it!

Throw Back Thursday: Furbys

” A Furby is an American electronic robotic toy released in 1998 by Tiger Electronics.” Says Wikipedia Furby page.

download

Furbys were the toy to have but no one really knew how to use them. They would sleep but you couldn’t wake them up or you couldn’t feed them because you they wanted to sleep.

Furbys ears moved, eyes blinked, the mouth and tongue moved as they talked. I did not know this but Furbys have their our language called Furbish, some samples are:

“Doo” means “What?”
“Doo-Dah” means ” Yes.”
“Boo” means “No.”
“Yoo” means “Why will you not play with me today?”
“Wee-tah-kah-loo-loo” means “Tell me a joke.”
“U-nye-way-loh-nee-way” means “Go to sleep now.”
“U-nye-loo-lay-doo” means “Do you want to play?”

You can look up some more phrases at their Wikipedia page.

These toys were pretty cool but like I said I had no idea how to use it properly. I actually still have my old one, I should put new batteries in and reset it to see if I can figure it out! I mean I feel like they would be really annoying now that I’m adult but it’s worth a try!

Furbys also came in all different colours so let me know what colour you or you child had or has!

Throw Back Thursday: Beauty and the Beast

“Beauty and the Beast is a 1991 American animated musical romantic fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures.” Said Wikipedia.

Beautybeastposter

It’s about a Prince who is pretty much self centered that gets a curse put on him, that curse turns him into a beast and the only way to break the curse is for him to love another and earn her love in return. The Beasts servants are turned into household items that can talk caused by the curse; he is also given a magic mirror that can see into the future and a rose that acts as his timer.

(The Beast)

Ten years later there’s a bookworm girl named Belle and her father Maurice. One day her father gets into trouble and Belle goes to save him but stumbles into the Beast – that’s when their magical story begins.

This is my favourite Disney “princess” movies out of all of them. I just wish they sold adult Halloween costumes of Belle so I could wear it!

If you haven’t seen the movie please watch it, in fact watched all the old Disney movies!
