The Right Way to Christmas Shop

I live in Canada so Thanksgiving is over, Halloween is around the corner and all the stores are putting out their Christmas stuff. Before you know it the next time you’re at the mall you’re in the crazy, madness, stressing out about what to get the cousin of yours. We’ve all been there, even I, but this year is the year I’m changing the way I shop!

In this post I’m going to let you know how I’ve planned my Christmas shopping and got right to it at the start of October!

Lets begin…

First you want to figure out who the hell you’re buying for. Write it all down, write every single name you think you should buy a gift for this year. Mine looks like this…

1. Mum                        6. Step-Dad
2. Dad                          7. Step-Mother
3. Sister                       8. Boyfriend’s Mum
4. Step-Brother          9. Dog
5. Boyfriend               10. Cat

I have way more then ten people, don’t worry if the list is big. Now that you’ve gotten that out of the way, on a different sheet of paper just brain storm some ideas for each person. I’m going to use my sister as an example; all you have to do is right whatever comes to mind.

Sister:

– car matts
-batta fish
-batta fish tank
-batta food
-GPS
-Pandora bracelet
-Tim Hortons gift card
-Starbucks gift card
-air freshener for car

Now to someone else this make not make any sense but to explain my sister just got her first car and she wants a batta fish, that’s why those were my main focuses.

TIP! If you really can’t think of anything for someone, take them out shopping with you one day and see what they pick up and talk about. Or just listening to them and see what they need around the house, for their cars or something that will help them.

Once you’ve brain stormed for every person and have it all written down, the next step is to figure out from that list you actually want to get them. Going off of my sister’s list, I know my mum will be buying her the car stuff (NOTE: communicate with friends and family so you don’t buy doubles!) so my next go to thing is a batta fish.

Now my sister has had fish before but that’s when we were younger, I started off buy going to a pets store and picking up some information about batta fish. Pet Smart is a great place to go, they have free paper brochures with everything you need and even health concerns to look out for in the pet. Once I got that I got a small tank, the tank I got came with food, gravel and water cleaning solution.

I got her that at the start of October, I haven’t bought anything else for her but slowly with each pay I get a little more gifts. I’ve been slowly buying gifts since the start of October so by the time November comes, I’ll mostly be done my shopping. Now because the first gift that I got for my sister came with everything I just need to worry about getting the fish, but that can wait closer to Christmas time.

In the end, go over your list/brain storming one more time just to make sure you didn’t miss anything or maybe someone told you, “oh I really want this for Christmas.” Once all that is done, it’s time a start wrapping those gifts!

So lets recap and write in point form.

1. Figure out who you’re buying for by writing all the names down.
2. On different sheet of paper brain storm ideas of what to get that person. Do for each persons name you wrote down.
3. Out of that brain stormed list, pick something you actually want to buy them.
4. Do a litter research on which one is best/any info you may need/where to buy.
5. Every time you’re out buy one part of each person, slowly. It doesn’t have to be done all in one sitting.
6. Go over you list and make sure you’ve gotten everything.
7. Start wrapping!

I know it may seem confusing the way I wrote it but you get what I’m saying..maybe.

Hopefully this was somewhat helpful!

15 Essentials When Going to a Wedding

Lucky me I get to go to a wedding in less then 2 months and I thought this would be a great thing to write about. Lets get started..

  1. The Dress. Obviously you need a nice dress fit for a wedding! Get a dress that fits the surroundings, if you’re going to a beach wedding, get a dress that flows and bright colour; a church wedding, get a nice fancy dress that still looks amazing; a backyard wedding, I would just get a casual dress and do your hair up nicely, you get my point. Don’t be afraid to reuse a dress from a different wedding because I’m sure as hell doing that. I went to a wedding last year and found a dress that costed $300 but I LOVED it, now I’m going to wear it to this years wedding just changing the shoes.
  2. The Shoes. The shoes need to match with your dress or your accessories. The dress I have is kind of hard to change the colour so my shoes will match my dress. If you’re wearing lets say a red dress, you can play it up with some black accessories. When you’re picking out shoes remember a few things; they need to be comfortable, scratch the bottoms so you don’t slide all over the floor, you need to be able to walk in them, and be age appropriate.
  3. The Clutch/Purse. Now for most ladies this is a must, unless you want to be that girl who carries her cellphone in between her breast. I’m not saying you have to go out and buy a Michael Kors clutch, you can go to way cheaper places and find something just as good or better to fit your liking. Make sure your phone, some money and a camera will fix in there because that’s mostly what you will be holding.
  4. Accessories. I know a purse is a part of this topic but I mostly want to talk about jewelry. It’s a wedding, get some nice earrings, a necklace and a bracelet. Have some fun with it but still look classy.
  5. Make Up. Yay the fun part. Nothing more exciting to us ladies then getting all dressed up and having a good night. Well if you’re a girl like me who wears basic make up, (and I mean basic by mascara and eye liner and that’s it) then you will think make up is stressful. Never fear, basic make up is okay as long as it looks nice for a wedding, if not ask a friend to help you out or go to a make up store and they can show you how to do things!
  6. Hair. This for me is the fun part, I love doing my hair to look nice (since we all know I work in a pool and never get a chance to do it). When doing your hair I would suggest testing it out a few times at home before you do it. Practice makes perfect is a true sentence when it comes to doing your hair.
  7. The Invite. This is important to bring since you probably don’t know where the location is and it will have the address on it! Trust me, bring it and just leave it in the car unless you are told to bring it in.
  8. Money. I know it’s a wedding and everything is pretty much paid for but you never know when you’re going to need some money. Always bring some just in case!
  9. Camera/Cell Phone. Pictures, pictures, pictures. There’s nothing more fun then taking pictures with people at a wedding, it’s a memory you want to remember. But what you need to remember is that it’s someones special day and you don’t want to ruin it.
  10. Charger/Batteries. I know you’re thinking what camera takes actual batteries anymore? I’m talking about those old birds who still use the old camera that use batteries, and besides always bring an extra battery for those modern cameras if it runs out. You can charge the other one while you’re still talking pictures.
  11. Flats. This is mostly for the ladies, even if you did get those comfortable shoes your feet can still hurt by the end of the night or maybe you can’t dance in heels? Either way flats is a good way to fix that. You can bring a pair of TOMS or even a drug store has flats that fit in your purse just for that purpose!
  12. Deodorant. There’s nothing worse then dancing the night away and realizing you’re not fresh anymore! Now don’t fear if you have a car you and always go get fresh air and freshen up. If you don’t then well you will need to keep thing in your purse! A small one is all you need, I keep one in my purse anyways.
  13. Water. I’m not saying bring a huge jug of water to the wedding, I’m talking about those cute, small ones just to keep you hydrated throughout the ceremony.
  14. A smile. I know that sounds stupid but remember these photos are going to be someone memories for life. You don’t want to be standing in a photo with no smile because you don’t like smiling. Think of someone else and plus you probably look better smiling with your teeth anyways!
  15. A Drive Home/DD. This is the most important one, I cannot stress this enough. Please do not drink and drive! You have so many options these days that you do not have to nor should you! You can call a cab, call a friend, have a designated driver, plan for someone to pick you up, bus home if you live close!

Tips on New Shoes!

I have this thing with new shoes, I hate the way they feel not formed to your foot and are most likely uncomfortable no matter what you said in the store. I do this for all heels that I get because yea I don’t wear them a lot and I want to be comfortable!

Make sure the shoe actually fits! Don’t get a shoe a size too small because your feet will swell and then you will have bigger problems, not to mention your feet will kill right off the bat – those poor toes! Don’t get the show a size too big just because that’s all they had! They’re a million shoe stores out there, it might take you awhile but you will find them.

When you do get the shoes work them in. What I mean by working them in is wear them around the house all the time, for at least a month. By the time the wedding comes they will feel like running shoes.

Scratch the bottom of the shoes. I do this all the time so I don’t fall on my face when you get to the hall. They have nice flat floors with no grip! Trust me on this one. All you have to do it go on your driveway and drag your feet around.

I got a Tattoo!

Oh hey!

That’s right, I did another thing off my 2014 List that will never go away!

I went to a place in Streetsville, Mississauga called Skintricate. My friend got three of her tattoos done there so that’s where she obviously took me. I thought they we were only going to get the drawing done but I ended up getting the actual tattoo. The artist that did mine, he’s name is Mike, you can go to the website listed below to see he’s art work.

My friend was with me and took pictures for me so lucky for you guys you get to see how it all went down! First off Mike did the outline on the paper that puts the picture on to your skin. (Below)

IMG_1057

The next step was for him to actually tattoo the outline (below), this is when the tattooing started and I felt my first pain. It’s actually not that bad of pain. On the meaty parts of my arm it just felt like a pinch, but on the bone, that’s the part that hurts. I got through it though.

IMG_1061

Once that was done this is the annoying part and the fast part, also the fun part because it starts to look like an picture and not a creepy outline. I will just post the pictures and not write anything about the shading. (Below)

As you can see I was bleeding! LOL but that’s alright. Now for the final picture, after taking off the bandage I had one for 2-3 hours.

IMG_20140829_200252

Now that it has been a couple of days it’s starting to look gross but it will go away. My boyfriend has a million tattoos so I can ask him if I have any questions.

I’m really excited about it but I just want all the healing part to be over with! I got a duck because I love ducks, I’m weird and have 80 just on one shelf that I have in my bedroom. I just think they’re so cute even though they are messed up in some parts of life!

Thanks for reading!

Happy Belated Birthday to Me!

That’s right! My birthday was last Friday! I am officially 23..

Because I totally do this all the time I’m going to do it with my birthday, I’m going to show you what I got! I was definitely spoiled this year but I am so thankful for all the gifts, birthday wishes and the time I got to spend with people.

Some of the gifts I won’t have up close pictures for because I’m just getting pictures off the internet but I do have one picture from Instagram with all the gifts I got so you can see them there.

Alright so my day started off at night actually, I just worked open to close at work, was dead tired and everyone else was tired too. Everyone was sending me birthday messages the night before since we all had to work early in the morning. The day of I got up and went to work where everyone said happy birthday again, I had to work the aquafit guarding slot, it was a one guard swim but we rotate every 15 mins so we don’t get bored. I left the pool to go get the lap top for one of my instructors, while I did that my other guard told all the old ladies that it was my birthday so when I rotated back on to guard they all ended up singing happy birthday. It was pretty cool and nice thing for my guard to do for me. After when everyone else came I got birthday cupcakes, cookies and a cover for my shift! I went home to my mum and sister where I got my birthday card from my cat! My sister and mum did it, it was pretty cute and totally my cat. Slowly my family came home then we waited on my boyfriend – always a slow poke! When he finally got to my house he took my mum and I to the mall because of the gift he got me!

lg-nexus-5-red

The red Nexus 5 cell phone! My boyfriend is the best. He got it for me because my other phone that I had was a shit box and I kept complaining about it. I helped paid for it a bit because I felt bad but he still put a lot of money into it. I’ve been taking care of my baby from now on. My bestfriend got me a case but we are still waiting for that to get here.

After we got the phone all set up and ready to go we went to dinner at the Mandarin. My sister and step dad met us there but they took so long because my step dad got pulled over! Was pretty funny but because he was on the way to my dinner they let him go. We ate like crazy then came home to open gifts! Here come the pictures!

15 Things School Didn’t Teach Me

1. How to get a credit card without ruining your credit. (I do not have one, I do not want to be broke but I need one soon!)
2. How to do my taxes. (I still don’t know how, my mum doesn’t them for me.)
3. How to pay your taxes! (I’m 22 and had to pay taxes for the first time tonight!)
4. How to wash your clothes without ruining them. (I learnt a long time ago but I know some people who have no idea!)
5. How to handle money without going broke.
6. How to buy a house.
7. How to buy a car.
8. Figure out what you want to do in life. (Sure you do some stupid test at what you would be good at but they never once helped my take the right courses to at least one goal.)
9. Tell you all the things you need in like, for example, health insurance, life insurance, etc.
10. How to find your own doctor or dentist.
11. How to make a great resume.
12. How to do well in interviews.
13. How to rent a car, book a flight or a hotel.
14. How to cook. (I’m pretty sure back in the day my parents HAD to take a cooking class.)
15. How to take risks.

Up Close Jays Game

Hi Everyone!

I know I haven’t being writing lately and it’s because I’ve been busy with work, dinners and going to Toronto Blue Jays games!

Alright I did this a couple years ago with my sister, we were literally 7 rows up from the field. This year I did it with my sister and my boyfriend and we were 36 rows up from the field, which is still pretty close then most people would get.

Image

(This picture was taken about 30 mins before the game, just to show you how close I was!)

Alright so my day started off terrible for this day. The night before I barely slept because my boyfriend and I stayed up late watching a movie then most of the night I was up feeling like I was about to puke. When I woke up I was still feeling so bad but I got ready and went on with the day. My boyfriend bought beer the night before so we could pre-drink on the bus, we only had two beers without eating any breakfast. Yes, I was drinking at 10 am.

We get to Toronto, get breakfast at Union station and continue drinking without getting caught! Yay! I then had to go back to Ripley’s Aquarium to switch out a mug that I got that was broken. It was actually so easy, I thought they would look at my bill and say that I couldn’t because it wasn’t from today. Nope, they let me walk right in, didn’t look at anything, just switched the mug. Anyways, we get to the Rogers centre and find our gate but before we went in my boyfriend smoked like 2 smokes since you can’t inside the building. We went in a found the Jays shop where my sister and I went in, she found herself a nice hat.

We sat down in our seats to find out that there was a tall guy sitting in front of me. Now none of you know me but I’m only five foot three, so this guy was in my way of the game. His daughter hated my boyfriend because he was so loud, she kept giving us dirty looks it was actually so funny. Anyways the Jays lost but it was a fun day.

After the game we met up with my boyfriends and my friends for some lunch. We went to Wayne Gretzky’s but it was an hour wait. We went into Fionn’s and they said they had a table that would sit 8 of us, we walk in to find it was 2 small bar tables. We went to Boston Pizza, it was my sister’s birthday and the guys were great at telling the waitress so they sang to her. I think that made the day complete.

On the way back home these drunk assholes were being so annoying but they said sorry when they left so it was fine. My boyfriend and I dropped my sister off and went home to pass out!

Alright that was another thing crossed off my list of things to do in 2014! Remember if any of you have any other ideas let me know! Here’s the link to list!

https://sheaint.wordpress.com/2014/01/04/2014-list/

Welcome to Canada

Christmas is only 3 days away, that is absolutely crazy. This year has gone by so fast that it is kind of sad. My year started out really shitty but somehow got great. I work tonight, then I go to my boyfriends then all my Christmas madness starts when I get home. On Monday my uncle is coming over – he’s the uncle I always like so I want to see him and I want to talk a picture with him. Then after that all the other madness happens that I wrote before in a different post.

Welcome to Canada

I don’t know if you guys know this but I live in Toronto, Ont, Canada. If you’ve looked at the weather for us it has been typical winter weather but all of the sudden it decided to half snow and half rain – making it ice pretty much. It rains all day long but as soon as it starts to turn into night the ground freezes making it one big sheet of ice. I went to sushi last night with my friends, when we were done we had to skate our way to the car. It was actually so funny because the driveway is on a hill but at the same time it was very dangerous. I hope when I go to work tonight and walking to my boyfriend’s car I don’t fall on my ass. I don’t have a picture for you guys from myself but I am going to steal one off of Facebook from a friend.

Now you can see what the hell is going in here.

Christmas Traditions

Over the years my family has done Christmas we sort of have a routine that we follow. My parents are divorced and my dad moved away so we just do our Christmas on Christmas eve now. My mum on the other hand there is a whole bunch.

1. Try to wake up Maeghan (aka me) – so when I was younger I was NOT a morning person. Trying to wake me up was a very dangerous thing because if you did it the wrong way you would either get yelled at or I would hit you.

2. Tell my sister to go back to bed at 4 AM – my sister is the one who gets so excited over Christmas is our family. She will wake up at 4 AM and try to get the whole family up. She usually comes into my room and tells me that Santa came or to get up, which I don’t. She then would go to my mum’s room and try to wake me up but they would tell her to go to bed. Now and days my sister just waits in her room until it’s time or she makes coffee for everyone.

3. Croissants – ever since my parents divorced my mum made it a thing that she would make croissants in the morning. That would be our breakfast as we opened up our stockings. Now my whole family is up at this point but myself, they let me sleep as long as possible because I hate waking up early, especially if I’m hungover from the Christmas Eve party.

4. Terrible pictures – every year my mum takes pictures of us as we open up our gifts, but as you know no one looks good right after they just woken up. None of these pictures have every made it to Facebook but this year I will be posting them so I am going to look great before I come down to open gifts.

5. Opening gifts – some of my sister’s gifts and mine are the same or similar so when we open up our gifts they sometimes take forever because we have the open some things at the same time. It’s funny though and makes the whole process fun.

6. After math – after opening all our gifts we all decided to put things together or go through them once again and actually give a good look at things. I think everyone in the world does this.

7. Family comes over – after all of that we have to deal with all of our family come over. This is very interesting because our house is small and we have all these people coming over. Some of the people we don’t like too much so I stay down for about an hour then go up to my room.

What about you?

Alright I want to know what you guys do for Christmas or what weird traditions you have to do each year. Leave them in a comment and maybe I will make a list or something! So leave your name and your weird traditions/things you do on Christmas!
