tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint – Moody

I have recently become obsessed with tarte products because they’re so great. I wrote about their mascara that I bought in last months favourites. This month is the lip tint, I wore these to a wedding in Barrie. It’s a great colour and it keeps your lips nice and moist. The only problem is you do need to reapply quite a bit I found. Which is fine because it gave me a reason to get up and do something! I actually didn’t buy this, I wanted to buy it but my sister already had a sample size so I have that now. You can get the regular one at Sephora for $29.00.

Carried Away Body Lotion from Bath & Body Works

I’ve had this lotion for a really long time and I love the smell. I normal keep it in my work bag because a. it gets rid of the chlorine smell and b. because it helps my skin not be itchy from the chlorine. I got this from Bath & Body Works a long time ago, I know they had a new version of it. This one was $12.50.

Hair Chemist Coconut Oil Deep Repair Masque

This stuff is one of those great life savers for a poolie. After I shower sometimes my hair just wants to be a pain in the butt or I want to make sure I get some moisture back into my hair. I also put this in my hair before I go in the water to help protect it. It’s pretty much coconut oil in a jar, it works wonders and it smells great. I got this at Sally Beauty for $8.99.

FitBit Charge HR

I got this for my 24th birthday from my mum and step-dad. It is the best thing ever, it has gotten me moving so much. This one tracks my steps, my heart rate, miles, calories, floors climbed, my sleep, water intake, and I can put what I have eaten. The best part about it is my whole family has one and on the app you can challenge people to see who can walk the most steps in a work week. It has made my whole family get up and move just so we can beat each other! You can get this at Best Buy and Sports Chek for $179.99.

Yup, I am one of those people who caved and got Netflix. My boyfriend has it at his house but I don’t at mine so I bought the two screen one. It’s great, I can watch TV shows or movies I’ve never seen before! Mine cost $11.99 per month I believe.

tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof Mascara

I know I have written about mascara before but I’ve had my eye on this one for awhile now. I love tarte because all their products are cruelty-free and they work. This mascara isn’t going to make you eyelashes big but it makes them look like your normal eyelashes with that black boldness to them. You can get any tarte product at Sephora for $25.00.

Garnier Ombrelle SPF 30 Water Resistant Lotion

In last months favourites I wrote about sunscreen for your body and how important it is. Some sort of SPF on your face is just as important, since your face is a sensitive area you really need to take care of it. Ombrelle is a good lotion for your face, it won’t clog your pores, its light and fragrance free. You can get Garnier Ombrelle at Walmart for $13.00-$16.00.

Lancome Bi-Facil-Double Action Eye Makeup Remover

When I sent out that Facebook post asking all my lady friends what’s the best makeup remover my mum saw it and that’s when she gave me the Clinque sample in my March Favourites. Well my Mum’s best friend saw the post as well and gave my Mum her sample bottle for me to try. The Lancome Bi-Facil makeup remover is one of my favourites (tied with the Clinque one). They are honestly both great products. I find the Lancome makeup remover hurts my eyes a bit but it gets more of the makeup off, it has also lasted a little bit longer than other but not by much. You can get this product in a lot of stores, Sears, The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart and of course Sephora for roughly $36.00.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

This was the product I had in mind when I was looking for a new face wipe since Target closed down. This product is great, like the entire Cetaphil line is, it really is gentle, refreshing, and doesn’t make your face red when you use it; it also comes in two sizes! They have a small travel pack (10 cloths) that you can put in your purse or beach bag, and they have a big pack (25 cloths) that you would leave at home. The only problem with these is they’re impossible to find! I’ve been using them for about 2-3 weeks now because they’re hard to find but I’m impressed with them. I kept going back to the store to see if they had them but they didn’t, then I went to the travel section and bought 3 travel sizes ones. I absolutely love Cetaphil products! You can get these bad boys at Shoppers Drug Mart for $5.00-$7.00.

Every girl tries to find that one hair tie that doesn’t leave that dreadful lump on the back of their hair. Well I think we have found it ladies (and gents). I bought one just to try it out and I fell in love with it. They last a long time and don’t fade in colour or get stretched out fast. You can get an 8 pack in different colours at Sephora for $11.50.

The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Product Review

Hey everyone! I am the sister of Maeg and will be writing a guest review on some of The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Products.

I was recommended to try this products from my mother and stepfather; as I not only have some light acne but also have blemishes to the point where my entire face is red.

Three of the products I will be writing about I purchased in a set for $ 36.00 CDN. They included the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash, the Tea Tree Clearing Toner, and finally the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash

tea-tree-skin-clearing-facial-wash_l

I enjoyed this product as it does clear away the dirt in your skin when you use it. I use this product while in the shower allowing my pores to open up more ensuring that the product will remove any excess oils.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

tea-tree-skin-clearing-toner_l

Out of all the Tea Tree products I’ve tried so far this has to be my favourite. I use this not only for my face but my body as well. If I have a few zits creep up on me I just use this product and within a few days they are gone. Definitely removes any excess dirt from the any. Best advice apply with a clean cloth. The only downside to this product is you have to shake it every time in order to activate the ingredients.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion

tea-tree-skin-clearing-lotion_l

I honestly do not use this product much as the rest of the line, as it has moisturizing ingredients. I would only recommend this product if you have dry skin.

There are three remaining products that I have tested out and they are as follows:

Tea Tree Squeaky Clean Scrub

tea-tree-scrub_l

I use this product only once to twice a week. I’ve had some pretty bad experiences in the past with exfoliators or scrubs, because of this I didn’t want to over do it with this product. Most scrubs I’ve used in the past have dried out my face. This scrub is not as harsh as those, and does contain some moisturizing features. This product cost $15.00.

Tea Tree Gel

tea-tree-blemish-gel_l

I use this as a spot treatment for  my blemishes. I do have rosacea so I am constantly red in the face. This gel does do the job, however it does not do anything in terms of zits or acne. This product cost $11.00.

Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion

2243373

This product is great for blemishes and super easy to use. All you do is put the lotion on before bed (enough to cover your entire face) and go to sleep. When you wake up the next morning you are completely blemish free. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who doesn’t want to do a lot of work in order to get a blemish free face. This product cost $19.00.

Thanks for reading, until next time.

6 Steps to Healthy Summer Skin and Hair!

Chlorine, sand and sun can be extremely hard on your skin and hair especially since summer is practically here! These are just some small tips that I’ve figured out growing up and working in a pool over the years. Lets get started…

1. Swim Cap. Now I know you wouldn’t want to wear a swim cap at the beach or a lake but if you are going into a pool at a recreation centre you’re better off to wear one of these, they put a lot of chlorine in the water compared to a pool in someones backyard because of the amount of people going into the pool.

2. Shower. At some lakes and beaches they have showers to rinse your body off of the sand but this can also help your hair out a little bit too. The sun will take the moisture out of your hair so giving it a good rinse with clean water will help it out a bit. If you’re swimming in chlorine water, showering right after getting out helps a great deal! Rinsing right away will get the chlorine off a little bit more, now if you were in the water for three hours straight like I have to be, you will have a harder time getting it off but only an hour you should be fine. Waiting to shower when you get home allows the chlorine to be dried into your skin, trust me even a rinse after being in chlorine water makes you feel ten times better then if you were not to shower.

3. Conditioner. There are two ways you can use conditioner when swimming. The first way is the most common way – leave in conditioner – after swimming and a good rinse just put some leave in conditioner in your hair to put some of the moisture back in. Your hair won’t be as dry when you get home to have a shower. The second way is to put normal conditioner in your hair before you go swimming and put it in a bun. The chlorine, sand and salt water will eat away at the conditioner rather then your hair and leaving it in a bun makes it harder for the water to wash it away. We do this at the recreation centre when we don’t feel like wearing our swim caps.

4. Sunscreen. The most common one, I know, but this is an important one! Protecting your skin from the sun is extremely important since the sun is getting stronger and summers are getting hotter. We don’t want bad sun burns, wrinkly skin or worse cancer. Please do not skip this step.

5. Stay Hydrated. Water is great for your health but it’s also great for your skin and hair! It’s pretty self explanatory, water adds moisture to your skin and hair making it look fabulous! This is also an important step because not drinking water can lead to health problems especially in the heat. Please do not skip this step.

6. Lotion. After swimming in chlorine for long amounts of time your skin can get pretty dried out, that goes for the beach and the sun. I know for me putting lotion on after I shower is a must or else I get extremely itchy, but that’s what chlorine does to you. After being in the sun your body may be burnt, have a nice tan or feel tight, putting lotion on will help that out. Now if you have a sun burn I would suggest putting aloe or lidocaine spray on. If you have tight skin or a nice tan put lotion on when you wake up and before you go to bed, this will help with the tightness and will keep your tan turn into peeling!

That’s it! Let me know if this was helpful or if you want to add anymore tips!
