COVID-19 Layoff: Day Eighty & Eighty-One

Day Eighty:

EI report day which I almost forgot, thankfully I put a reminder on my phone and it popped up.

Today was a driving day, I was glad to get out of the house. Sister met me at my house and we picked up my Mum to drive to Etobicoke to pick up my families big San Remos order. Ususally that road is crazy so we went early to try to find parking/the curb side pickup. It was super easy, when we got there the two cars in front of us were leaving so I pulled up to spot one and waited. We were also 30 mins early so I thought they would make us wait but they came out with our order no problem.

We drove back to my Mum’s place, had a snack and hung out for a bit since Dave was napping with Drax. Came back in time to feed the dog and take him on his after dinner walk. Then it was hanging out for the rest of the night.

Day Eighty-One:

First off, holy crap to 81 days. I really hope I go back to work soon.

Today was pretty much a boring day, not much was done besides the regular stuff and watching all The Fast and the Furious movies since Netlfix put them all up! I remember watching the first one so I thought we’ll just rewatch them all. Dave didn’t want to watch them but once I put them on he was getting into it.

Obviously there’s a lot of them so I didn’t finish it today but I’m sure I will continue tomorrow.

I missed a couple days of workouts and ate like crap during those days so I needed to make up for it. I did an hour workout and died doing it but felt good after, I was also extremely tired. Drax keeps waking me up at 7am and I try to push it to 7:30 or 8 but it never happens.

That was pretty much my day!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Fifty-Two

Hello Winter?

Woke up this morning to the temperature being -2° and felt like -8°…in May!

All the dog walks were freezing, I actually wore my winter jacket again and because it got so cold so fast and started to snow I had a migraine most of the day that would not go away no matter what. Remember when I got burnt like a week ago? LOL

Today was a day of watching Netflix, I finished Dead to Me. It was amazing! If you haven’t watched that show, I highly suggest it. After I watched Becoming, the Michelle Obama mini documentary. I have her book, I just haven’t read it yet. After that I watched Ocean’s 8, Sandra Bullock is amazing and I love all her movies. Once Dave woke up then we watched the new Netflix show Hollywood, we started it the other day and today we finished it. It’s actually pretty good, I think it’s based on true events but I’m not sure. It looks corny but once you get into it it’s really good. Trust me.

That brought us to tonight which for some reason I finally felt like doing Dave’s expenses so I did that until 11:40, showered and now laying in bed attempting to keep my eyes open.

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, incase any of you forgot – here’s your reminder now. Does anyone have something planned for it? Maybe a nice zoom date with your mother? Either way with all that’s going around even a call is just nice. I’m sure all mother’s would appreciate it.

Today was report day, it took me about 2 mins. Pretty sad that something that took me 4 hours to apply for, only takes 2 mins to continue. Not that I’m complaining!

Well, I’m off to bed.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Forty-Eight

Today wasn’t a very interesting day.

I pretty much woke up grumpy since I didn’t sleep cause my burn hurt. The morning routine was usually besides Drax being extra sleepy.

Today was another day of movies and being bored with no motivation so I don’t have much to report on. I did put aloe on my body way too much today and I’m still dry!

Apparently there’s supposed to be snow at the end of the week so that’s happening! Global warming much!

Not much else to report, sorry for the lame days recently!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Forty

BIG 4 0!

Today marks 40 days in lockdown/quarantine/whatever you want to call it. Slowly but surely I’m going crazy and super bored, even Dave is bored and that never really happens.

This morning was the usual routine Drax wakes me up by laying on me, he gets fed, I water the plants and we go on our morning walk then I made breakfast. At some point I had energy and decided to go on a 2k walk with Drax but he still wasn’t tired! I swear he is the only dog that isn’t sick of walks.

Today Dave and I watched 2 movies and 2 episodes of The Last Dance since they came out today. Go check that out especially if you miss sports.

Not much else was done today, I did decide to wait on the plant update since the stuff Dave just planted hasn’t sprouted yet, maybe tomorrow I’ll update on the sunflowers!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty-Nine

Cloudys, clouds go away…or just rain already.

Yesterday was such a nice day and today was nothing but clouds and waiting for it to rain. When the weather is like this all I get is migraines and it gets worse the more it doesn’t rain because of all of the pressure.

I walked Drax 3 times before 12pm because he was being such a suck and kept wanting to go out. I swear he is the only dog that isn’t sick of going on walks!

Today I finished watching a show on Netflix called Outer Banks, it’s pretty interesting about teens looking for a ship wreck, it’s cheezy but good to pass the time. I also watched the one episode on Netflix of Coronavirus Explained, it’s pretty good and interesting because it’s not repeating the same thing everyday like what’s on the news. It actually explains what’s going on rather than just saying keep social distancing! Got take a look, it’s one episode that’s like 30mins long.
We also watched Extraction with Chris Hemsworth, I’m sorry, I love Chris but this movie was boring. Take a look for yourself but I just wasn’t into it, either was Dave.

The rest of the night was just hanging out, Dave wanted to trim his beard even though he keeps threatening to shave it all off. I don’t want him to look baby face so I made it short but still having a beard.

I’m probably just going to go to bed soon since this weather is just peachy. Tomorrow I think I’m going to give another plant update because some of them have grown a lot and Dave planted some new stuff. I’m not going to have any room on my balcony.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty Five

Welcome to spring-winter.

This morning Dave and I did some grocery shopping, we got there around 9:30am and by the time we left (10:30am) there was a big lineup to get in. It’s just crazy to think this is actually happening even though it’s been 35 days since I last worked.

While we were shopping Dave said he wanted a BBQ since we’re allowed them on our balcony. I definitely miss having BBQ food so I was okay with it. He found one that wasn’t too big and was only $160 from Walmart.

It came in a box but putting it together was easy as Dave did it pretty quick. The best part was the food, we had sausages, potatoes and salad. Definitely going to be used a lot!

That was pretty much our day! We walked Drax as he was super sucky together for some reason but he’s good and asleep for the night.

Dave and I are now watching Absurd Planet on Netflix, it’s pretty funny and educational. It’s fun to see all the weird animals on this planet! Go check it out!

That’s it! Hope you’re all staying sane and staying safe!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty One

Did anyone watch that at home concert tonight?

It was 2 hours but it didn’t feel like two hours went by, it was pretty nice.

Today I had a movie day! I watched 2 movies that were 2 and half hours long. The first movie was 12 Strong, it’s a war movie (I like those for some reason) about 9/11; anything that deals with 9/11 I will watch. I’m not gonna give anything away, just go check it out on Netflix.
The second movie I watched was Only The Brave, for some reason I kept passing over this movie but kept coming back to it then would pick something else. Eventually I didn’t know what to watch so I picked it. This was a crazy, good movie, I was not expecting to like it that much since I’m terrified of fire but jeez. I’m so not going to ruin anything for this movie besides that it’s about fire, go check that one out too on Netflix. If you are into movies based on true stories then check out my previous post here of my top true story movies. When I watch these type of movies I can’t believe people sometimes, there is some amazing people out there in the world. Just like all the doctors and nurses helping to fight COVID-19, thank you.

That was pretty much my day LOL as sad as that is but I just decided that’s what I was going to do on my Saturday. I walked Drax a bunch today which is good because I’m in a weekend Fitbit challenge. Gotta keep moving since all there is to do is eat – the snacking needs to stop that’s for sure!

That’s all for today! Stay safe everyone!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Nine

Snow, snow, snow.

Did it snow where you live today? This morning I woke up to a beautiful sunny but cold morning. I walked Drax, made my breakfast and started a movie while Dave was asleep. All of the sudden outside went dark and I looked over to see white. It was a blizzard outside. Literally all day that happened so we had to time our walks with Drax to not get caught in a random blizzard. Oh and all the snow, didn’t stay the sun would come back out and it melts.

Today was a meh day, I don’t know if it was the weather or what but I just wasn’t feeling it. Not much was done, I played animal crossing, made oatmeal chocolate chip muffins and started the first season of Ozark. Dave has seen the first season but he’s a bad Netflix boyfriend and watches shows without me. For example the movie I watched this morning was called 13 hours. He woke up an hour into it and said we already watched this! I said no, I’ve never seen this. He once again said we did. 13 hours is based on a true story and I love movies based on true stories and usually get hooked onto them – I have never seen this movie until this morning. Dave finally realized he watched it without me. Do any of you have bad Netflix significant others? Let me know in the comments!

So everyone in the quarantine has been baking, since you know all the flour and yeast have disappeared from grocery stores. What is everyones favourite quarantine recipe? I’ve only really made two new things so mine would have to be the bread, once I find the recipe again on Pinterest I will link it for you. I want to make more things though!

Working out needs to start again so I will figure that out. I want to get Hannah Bowers bands but money, money, money!

Tomorrow morning I’m most likely going to move all our plants into a bigger pot since the roots are coming out the bottom of most of them. I’ll have to take a new picture to keep you updated. My Mum sent me a picture that says, “Happiness is watcning your plant starting to grow.” 100% accurate. I don’t know what it is about it but it does make you happy. Even the succulent my client gave me is growing and THAT makes me happy because I usually kill those but I love them.

How’s everyone holding up? Another month to go, we can do this.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Twenty-Five

Happy Easter!

Today was turkey day as I wrote in my previous blog. Today was chilling out in the morning then at 1pm I started turkey dinner. Now this was my first turkey dinner I made on my own and I was nervous at first LOL.

When I went shopping for turkey didn’t I didn’t want to buy this giant turkey for max two people so I went with the boneless Butterball turkey and Butterball stuffing. At the start you have to run the turkey under warm water for one minute then rip that easy bag open! Place in a roast with a rack and cook away. Funny story, I don’t own a rack so my mum let me borrow hers – it didn’t fit in my roasting pan so I didn’t even use it but the turkey still turned out well.

Once the turkey was in the oven I started to peel and cut my potatoes and carrots so all I had to do when the time came was turn the knobs on on the stove!

IMG_20200412_133830
My sweet Easter set up with potato and carrots ready to go.

So the stuffing took an hour and half to cook, this part was the hard part – timing. I totally fucked it up, or so I thought. I ended up putting the stuffing in when the turkey only had hour left (fail I know) but it ended up working in my favour because I still had to drain potatoes and carrots, mash the potatoes, let the turkey sit then cut the turkey, set the table and make it an actually dinner at the table. In the end everything ended up being ready at the same time to eat. It’s not like I made the stuffing an hour late and we had to wait on it or anything!

IMG_20200412_173427
Happy Corona Easter!

And then PUMPKIN PIE! It’s my favourite so it’s a must. That was my day, making turkey dinner and now watching some Netflix.
