March Favourites 2020!

71hWgO7h76L._AC_SX679_Hemp Hard-Working Hand Protector

As everyone knows there’s a pandemic going on and we all need to wash our hands a hundred times a day. Now I don’t know about you but my hands are dry and sore from all this washing and I’m sure I’ve written about this cream before but I’m going to write more about it because it’s incredible important in my life for the month of March. This cream is amazing, it’s thick so you don’t need a lot, it’s 100% vegetarian and it actually works. Yes, it does smell like hemp but the smell isn’t that strong but beware dogs and cats like the smell. It’s made specifically for very dry skin and was tested on very dry skin so they had our hands in mind. The best part about The Body Shop is that it’s a cruetly free company and did you know they recylce their containers? If you have a membership (it’s free) and you bring back your containers you can get money added on to your account that can go towards spending later on.

KSP Bakers Silcone Baking Sheets – set of 3

I got these for Christmas from my Aunt, I didn’t use them for awhile and then finally I made cookies. These are the best damn baking sheets EVER. I have pretty good baking sheets but the more you use them the more ‘ruined’ they get. All you do is lay the silcone sheet down on the pan like you would with foil or parchment paper and place your cookies or whatever you’re baking and I 100% garantee it will not stick. The first time I used them I baked cookies and was completely shocked, I made Dave come over to lift up a cookie by hand because it was just so satisfying. Washing the sheets is just as easy, everything that was on them just comes right off and let them air dry. They always keep their shape, I just roll them up and put them in a cupboard and once I take them out again they will be flat. The best part is they’re reusable and you’re helping the evironment! You can get these at Kitchen Stuff Plus for regular price $29.99.

Joseph Joseph Nest 9 Plus Prep Set

I’ve had this for years and only just started using it. When I was younger I decided I was going to make a “nesting chest”, I started buying all the products I wanted for my own place but buy it slowly so I don’t spend a crap ton of money when you first move out. I orginally got all my Joseph Joseph stuff from Sears but they sadly no longer exist, now you can get stuff from The Bay, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Kitchen Stuff Plus. This prep set is the bomb.com because it comes with 2 mixing bowls (one big, one small), a strainer, a colander, and 5 measuring cups/spoons and it stacks together like in the picture to save space! The mixing bowls have grips on the bottom of them so they won’t move around on the counter, they’re all easy to clean as food doesn’t really stick to them (unless the food is sticky, like bread dough, but still was better than regular bowls) and they come in awesome colours. Now they do come in a sky colour (blues and greys) or a stainless steel verison if you don’t want the multi-coloured ones. Asbolutely love and I will show you other Joseph Joseph products! The multi-coloured and blue/grey are $74.99 and the stainless steel is $164.99 at The Bay.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner

I actually got this eyeliner as a Sephora birthday gift but I gave it a try and fell in love with it, it’s one of the best crayon eyeliners I’ve used. It goes on smoothly and has a great finish to it. You can get this at Sephora for $31.00.

Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap

I recently changed my face wash routine because as I wrote before my skin must have changed because what I was using before wasn’t working anymore. I decided to try clinique, this is their foaming face wash, my face has never felt so damn clean. Using this with the brush just makes your face feel amazing. You can get this at Sears for $24.00.

Aveda Thermal Dry Conditioner

I wrote about how Aveda released a dry shampoo that I used a lot while I was in school. Towards the end of school they also released a dry conditioner, for those of you who use dry shampoo and restyle your hair, this product is for you. Dry shampoo is for the roots to soak up the oils but when we restyle our hair what is protecting the ends from the heat tools we always use? Nothing. Aveda came up with just that, it detangles, conditions and is a heat protector for your mids and ends! It smells amazing, like the Aveda Shampure scent and doesn’t leave your ends looking dirty. You can get this at Aveda for $31.00.

Bitter Sweet Rose Gold Plated Sterling Silver Ring

It will kill me to write about this because I know this place will get more popular. This is a recent ring I got that matches my earrings for my birthday. You can get these at Bitter Sweet for $78.00.

NYX Cream Lipstick – Soft Spoken

My friend actually told me about this product because she wore it one day at school. She let me try it and I fell in love with it. It goes on creamy but dries matte which I love and it lasts pretty long. I got this at Shoppers Drug Mart for roughly $12.

Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

I needed a new face cleansing routine because skin changes and I noticed mine just wasn’t working anymore so I decided to use Clinique. I actually got this brush in a set but I will talk about the other products it came with later on. This brush is amazing, it is a gentle vibration to help clean your face. It comes with the regular brush head but there’s different ones for different types of skin to fit everyone’s needs. I switched out the regular brush for the Gentle brush because I have sensitive skin. You can get this at a bunch of stores such as the Bay, Sears, Sephora, etc for roughly $111.

Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo

They released this product while I was still in school at Aveda Institute and ended up using it almost everyday. This is a non-aerosol powder mist dry shampoo that smells like the Aveda Shampure smell. Because it’s non-aerosol in order to use it you tip it upside down, bring it back up and lightly squeeze. This product is amazing because I hate the smell of regular dry shampoos and this one doesn’t harm the Earth and it’s atmosphere because it’s non-aerosol. This product is always great for styling your hair, like braids and up-dos. Aveda sells thing product for $39.00.

Bittersweet Rose Gold Plated Sterling Silver Cubic Zirconia Earrings

I just love all of Bitter Sweet’s jewellry but sadly they got rid of the location closest to me so I need to go to Mississauga now. I fell in love with these earrings online and had to have them so I got them. They look like expensive jewellry without having to break the bank for them. I got these for $78.00.

My awesome boyfriend got me this for Christmas last year and it’s the best. It is on the big side so if you have a small room it can make things hard but it’s absolutely beautiful. On the other hand, putting it together was a pain in the ass but it’s worth it in the end. He got this at Ikea for $249.00.

Makeup Favourites:

NARS Pure Matte Lipstick – Volga

I actually bought this online because I wanted a fall/winter lip colour rather than wearing bright red all the time. I was actually impressed with this the first time I wore it, it lasted a long time and the colour is great. It does appear darker then it does online and the only problem I had with it was that if you have dry lips it tends to show that they’re dry. It doesn’t really provide that moisture for your lips. You can get this at Sephora for $35.00.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I’ve written about the Clinique liquid makeup remover of this product but I wanted to try something different. This cleansing balm is the weirdest, most awesome thing I’ve bought for removing makeup. It looks oily but it’s not, it’s a solid until you rub it on your eyes/face then you just rinse off. It get waterproof makeup off and you won’t have black under eyes in the morning! It actually works and lasts longer then regular makeup removers.  I got this at Sephora for $38.00 but you can also get it at Sears and the Bay.

Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep

Now that I got to Aveda Institute I know a lot more about the products that I loved before, I also have a lot of Aveda products now so they might be on here a lot more. Aveda Smooth Infusion Style Prep creates a smooth surface and helps fight against humidity. I know that doesn’t help in the winter but the smooth surface part is great. I flat iron my hair almost every day so putting some product in helps. You can only get this at Aveda stores/salons for $34.00.

Aveda Hand Relief Moisturizing Creme – Shampure

Once again I went with Aveda because I love the smell of this hand creme. It actually works since going their my hands are dry and I use this all the time. It doesn’t just have to be your hands I use it only my arms as well! They come in different scents which some I don’t personally like but the Shampure smell is good, it’s the scent you smell when you walk by Aveda stores/salons. You can only get this at Aveda stores/salons for $36.00.

I needed winter boots that I could wear when it wasn’t a snow storm but that are also warm so my mum got me an early Christmas present. They’re cute, and warm but not waterproof because they’re Uggs. Now I don’t normally like Uggs because they’re ugly in my opinion but this don’t look like your regular Uggs. These are from Little Burgundy for $200.00.

May Favourites 2015!

Makeup Favourite:

Lancome Bi-Facil-Double Action Eye Makeup Remover

When I sent out that Facebook post asking all my lady friends what’s the best makeup remover my mum saw it and that’s when she gave me the Clinque sample in my March Favourites. Well my Mum’s best friend saw the post as well and gave my Mum her sample bottle for me to try. The Lancome Bi-Facil makeup remover is one of my favourites (tied with the Clinque one). They are honestly both great products. I find the Lancome makeup remover hurts my eyes a bit but it gets more of the makeup off, it has also lasted a little bit longer than other but not by much. You can get this product in a lot of stores, Sears, The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart and of course Sephora for roughly $36.00.

Skin Care Favourite:

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths

This was the product I had in mind when I was looking for a new face wipe since Target closed down. This product is great, like the entire Cetaphil line is, it really is gentle, refreshing, and doesn’t make your face red when you use it; it also comes in two sizes! They have a small travel pack (10 cloths) that you can put in your purse or beach bag, and they have a big pack (25 cloths) that you would leave at home. The only problem with these is they’re impossible to find! I’ve been using them for about 2-3 weeks now because they’re hard to find but I’m impressed with them. I kept going back to the store to see if they had them but they didn’t, then I went to the travel section and bought 3 travel sizes ones. I absolutely love Cetaphil products! You can get these bad boys at Shoppers Drug Mart for $5.00-$7.00.

Hair Care Favourite:

Sephora-Ombre-Ribbon-Hair-Ties-in-AmethystSephora Ribbon Hair Ties

Every girl tries to find that one hair tie that doesn’t leave that dreadful lump on the back of their hair. Well I think we have found it ladies (and gents). I bought one just to try it out and I fell in love with it. They last a long time and don’t fade in colour or get stretched out fast. You can get an 8 pack in different colours at Sephora for $11.50.

St.Ives Daily Hydrating Vitamin E Body Lotion

I was looking online to see what would help with chlorine burn, vitamin C helps get rid of it but vitamin E helps restore your skin. I love St.Ives body wash so I got this lotion. This works so well, my chlorine burn was gone and my skin felt great. I got this at Shoppers Drug Mart for $4.00-$5.00.

Agenda from Chapters

I know this seems like a “what the heck” moment but my agenda is a life savers! I never used it in school but with adulthood you kind of need one. I know you can put everything in your phone but I’m the type of person who likes to have it all laid out in front of me, just makes things easier! You can get your agenda at Chapters for roughtly $12.00-$22.00.

Target Canada Closing – My Opinion

Yesterday morning Target Canada announced that they will be closing all 133 stores, leaving 17,000 people without jobs.

From my understanding Target Canada was only open for two years and in my opinion was a lot better than Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart. I use AUSSIE shampoo, from time to time I switch it up and try something new but AUSSIE is my go to brand. At Shoppers Drug Mart my shampoo and conditioner is $8.00 each; at Walmart the same shampoo and conditioner is $5.00 each; and of course at Target Canada the same shampoo and conditioner is $3.00 each (sometimes $2.00).

That’s why I shop at Target Canada.

I’m not saying Target has all the best deals because they don’t, but the things you use everyday and buy a lot more of is cheaper than anywhere else.

From my understanding Target Canada is closing because in the two years they’ve been open they’ve lost billions of dollars and said they wouldn’t make any profit until 2020 if they keep the Canadian stores open. I was quickly reading an article  about this and someone said (I think it was the CEO, I could be wrong) that it was plain and simple, Canada didn’t do what we wanted it to do so they’re being closed down.

That sounds pretty rude to me but it’s just business everyone.

In my opinion Target went at coming to Canada all wrong. They opened 133 stores as fast as they could, instead they should of opened them slowly, maybe one in each major city. In Brampton alone there’s 4-5 I believe and most of them are at malls (which closing the ones in the malls will close them even more money, they said millions just in closing Targets at malls).

Since they did it their way and opened all 133 stores at once and it didn’t work out, I’m wondering why they didn’t do what Sears did and close a couple of stores to save money? Because they’ve decided to close them all at once, leaving us Canadians teased, I think they’ve made a bad name for themselves.

The best part about them closing down is that City Pulse 24 News released that Target Canada was closing before the stores told their employees, leaving some to find out from the news that they no longer have a job. I know this because my sister and a couple of friends are some of the 17,000 people who no longer have a job.

In the end I think Target Canada will be missed by some.

Thanks for reading.
