April Favourites 2021!

CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream

For some reason no matter what I did I would wake up with dry tight skin. I wanted to find something that hydrates and restore the skin barrier since it was so tight. I follow a dermatologist on Instagram who made a post about dry skin, and what products to look for; she suggested CeraVe so I decided why not? I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and tried it that night. This is the best product I’ve used in a long time. It’s thick enough that it hydrates all night and you do not need to reapply it. It’s a small jar but it last awhile as you don’t need a lot. You can get this for $26 at Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

As you can tell this post is about me revamping my skin care! My body was the same as my face, no matter what I tried it was still dry when I woke up. Because the night cream worked so well I decided to try the body cream and boy am I in love! I haven’t had dry skin since I started using this; this is also amazing on dry feet. Lockdowns in Ontarios means no pedicures so everyones feet are a little rough, in attempts to make them better I put the cream on my feet before bed and it helped a great deal. You can get a 539g container for $28.

Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Face Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 50

I used to use First Aid Beauty Face Sunscreen but when I needed more I couldn’t find it anywhere, not even on their own website so that led me to believe it was discontinued. Now I was on the hunt to find a new one for my indecisive skin! I wanted something that was still going to provide moisture, especially if I’m being in the sun, something that works with sensitve skin and an SPF of 30 or higher. I found Aveeno and decided to try it and so far so good! It’s light weight, absorbs into the skin so you don’t feel like you have that nasty sunscreen feeling, it comes in a small enough tube that you can put it in your purse to reapply and a little goes a long way but not too little! I always opt for an actual sunscreen rather then SPF makeup for a couple of reasons, the first I barely wear makeup and second with makeup SPF you’d have to cake on the makeup to actually get the protection you’re looking for from the SPF. I got this at Shoppers Drug Mart for $18.

February Favourites 2021!

Magic Bag

My Mum has this thing and it’s the best thing ever so I asked for it for Christmas. You can get them in different sizes for different parts of your body but I wanted the neck/shoulder/upper back one as that’s where I’m usual sore on my body from work. It is a thermotherapeutic pack that acts as a compress, it has some weight to it as it is filled with grains. You can use it hot or cold, you mircrowave it in 30 sec intervals if you want it hot and it stays warm for 30mins. If you want it cold you can put it in the fridge or you can freeze it for 4 hours. It’s natural and reusable and its the best thing for soreness, not to mention it’s actually relaxing. I actually had no idea where you could get this so I had to look it up, Walmart and Shoppers has it and they’re different prices for the difference sizes. For the neck and shoulder one it’s roughly $30.

Massage Gun

These are the next best things for your muslces. My boyfriend got sick of massaging me (even though I still get him to do it) but I use this when he’s not home and I’m sore. It comes with different massage heads for different parts of the body (joints, large muscle groups, vertebral positions), it’s rechargable and it works well. It has some power to it so I would start out on low depending how sore you are or if you’re using to prevent soreness. These massage guns are everywhere now and you don’t need to spend $500 on one. He got mine off of Amazon and they range from $99-$500 so do your research on them before you buy and remember you don’t need to spend a crazy amount on the brand name verison.

Joseph Joseph DrawerStore Compact Cutlery Organizer

So this is all over Tiktok because Joseph Joseph products are the best. If you have been following my blog you know that I am obsessed with their stuff, their stuff is compact and makes organizing easy.
I live in an apartment so space in limited and I actually only have one drawer for cutlery so It needs to be organized. I had one of those regular cultery bins but I didn’t like it as it took up too much space in the drawer. With this one everything is off to one side but it’s still organized! My cutlery drawer is a work in progress but eventually I will show a picture of what it looks like just like I did with my pantry. I got this at Bed Bath & Beyond for $21.00!

December Favourites 2020!

Tub Shroom

Normally I do not buy these sort of things, you know the as seen on tv things, but I randomly saw this in Walmart as I was shopping and decided to grab it. I did need something to catch all the hair going into our drain as it was a lot – mine, boyfriends, and my dogs. This is the best drain catcher I have ever bought. I was extremely surprised by this as it was cheap and easy to use, most of time these things suck, lets me honest! Naturally I ended up buying one for my Mum to use! I got this at Walmart for I think aroun $5-$8.

Eucalyptus Mint Single Wick Candle

I asked for some candles for Christmas that would help make my apartment less of a drag since I’m in lockdown (again). Usually I get the big 3 wick candles but this one is so cute! It’s small but it strong with a kick. The smell stay around in your place ever after you blow it out. It’s soy base wax and a slow burn candle! You can get this at Bath & Body Works for $14.50.

DKNY Tilly Zip Top Crossbody Bag

Anyone who knows me knows I love me a DKNY purse. My second bag I got I had it for one day then my dog somehow clawed it and scratched it. I was upset but got over it real quick; I’d had that bag for a year and bit now and it’s still in good condition (besides the claw mark) and was in the starting moods of getting a new purse. To my surprise I got a purse for Christmas and I love it. It’s similar to the one I have now but it’s slightly bigger and it has an extra zipper pocket! As this was a gift I’m not sure of where it was bought or how much but I know you can get DKNY at multiple stores like the Bay, DKNY actual stores, and many other department stores.

May Favourites 2020!

Singer Sewing Machine

I had gotten this sewing machine awhile back as I was attempting to learn. Little did I know that I would need this to make masks! Now sewing machines and I don’t have a good relationship, nothing seems to work for me, I fix it then it works for maybe five mintues and then I have the same issue all over again. I made two masks with this, I was proud of myself but the anger that came with it was not fun. Singer is a great brand when it comes to sewing machines, my best friends Mum had one for 30 years. They are built to last and are good working machines – needless to say when I use it it’s user error. With anything though it takes practice, you’re not going to be a pro the moment you open the box that’s for sure. It takes me a lot of reading and watching youtube videos to figure some things out! I got this at Canadian Tire for roughly $150. You can get them at lots of stores, just look around and do your research to see what is best for you!

Yoga Mat

I bought my yoga mat YEARS ago at Walmart for maybe $20, now they’re everywhere. Most stores have their own verisons and colours so it all depends on what you like. I’ve decided I need to start working out because I was getting quarantine-15! As gyms were closed and I was bored out of my mind anyways, I got some weights and found a workout plan and got to it. Boy, was I out of shape and I still am. I remember when I was younger playing baseball and working out like it was nothing, now doing squats makes me break a sweat! My yoga mat was handy as I live in a one bedroom apartment with my boyfriend and dog so that’s not much space to do a full workout. At least the mat made me have a space, preventing noise going to the person below me and saved my knees from the hard floor. Now gyms are open, that that I have gone as the virus is still going around but I want to so the yoga mat is coming back out! You can get yours at most stores and you don’t need to spend a lot of them.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Sixty-Seven & Sixty-Eight

Day Sixty-Seven.

The weather has been hella nice lately but it’s slowly getting extremely hot. My Dad was home from work so Dave, Drax and I loaded up the car with my tires and the family and drove up to Hillsburgh. My Dad changed my tires over for me and we had lunch while the dogs played around all afternoon. My Dad has two dogs, a red fox lab and a bernese mountainn dog; the lab minds his own business but the bernese is a grumpy old man but Drax doesn’t mind really, he just loves having dogs as big as him around.

Eventually we drove back home and everyone was tired, Dave and Drax napped and I just did small things around the house until it was dinner time and Drax’s late night walk.

Day Sixty-Eight.

Today was a productive day, I went grocery shopping since last night Dave and I noticed our fridge was completely empty. Grocery shopping alone is meh but I did get to take my time and figure out stuff while I was there. I just like having someone push the cart. I came home, put the food away and then worked out. Today I did some pilates that I completely suck at and I’m super out of shape! Once working out was done I deicided to make a sandwhich because I didn’t want to make the apartment hot since it felt like 37 outside! Laundry was 30mins after lunch which is annoying, I absolutely hate going up and down! Laundry goes something like this: I live on the 6th floor, so I go down to 1 put clothes in the 4 washer, go back up, wait 30mins to go back down and put them in the dryer, come back up to hang any clothes I didn’t want to dry, wait 50mins and go back down to get the dry clothes and folding is always a pain!

I hung out until Dave came home, we made dinner, walked Drax around 8 so it was cool enough for him and now were hanging out watching some Netflix. Pretty productive day and now I’m super tired!

That’s all for today.

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Sixty-Five

Good evening!

The weather was absolutely beautiful today and a little bit on the hot side! It was way to hot for Drax today so his walks were limited but later on at night we took him out and he was having a blast in the cool air.

Drax actually got a new collar since he’s growing so much his old one was too tight and he only wore it outside since it has his tags on it. Dave also got him a cooling mat, this thing is pretty cool and even I want to lay on it!

Today I did go to Walmart to get shirts and yoga pants since my other ones are more for louging around. There’s one shirt I need to return or just lose the weight and I love the yoga pants. Most likely will be going back for more of those!

Today I said I would do a plant update so here it goes!

So here we have our regular plants, arugula, spinach, garlic and rosemary. They are growing wild and I’m excited.

This is my pumpkin that is growing crazy! I know it’s going to be super vine like before I get any pumpkins so I’ll just keep taking care of it!

We planted some lettuce! They are just little babies but I’m excited for this. Never planted this before so we’ll see how this goes! Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for….who has the best sunflower…still in progress…drumroll please!

On the left we have Dave’s and on the right is yours truely. Baby sunflowers! So cute but it’s turning into a close competition! They are standing on their own currently and I will most definetly need to get bigger pots for them ass they get bigger.

That’s all I have for today, not much else was done!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty Seven

Good morning!

I forgot to do my blog last night so it’s coming to you this morning! Yesterday morning Dave and I went to Walmart again because we forgot to get stuff plus they didn’t have some stuff! They didn’t have some of the groceries we wanted so we checked if they had that, which they did. The day we bought the BBQ we realized we didn’t get anything else for it besides the BBQ! We went back, got a cover and cooking utensils then had BBQ chicken for dinner. We have used this is everyday since we got it and I’m excited for summer now (assuming the pandemic will be over).

The rest of the day was pretty much just hanging out. At 6pm Post Malone hosted a Nirvana Tribute livestream concert and I of course had to watch is because a. Post Malone and b. Nirvana! It was pretty good, he sounded good and had Travis Barker do the drums so that’s cool!

After that not much happened, Dave played his videogames and I hung out on the couch until I was tired. Hense forgetting to blog!

I did weigh myself last night which was a big mistake and now I need to focus on losing weight again. Too much snacking is happening and not enough exercise!

That’s all for this morning, I’ll be back with tonights post later on!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Thirty Five

Welcome to spring-winter.

This morning Dave and I did some grocery shopping, we got there around 9:30am and by the time we left (10:30am) there was a big lineup to get in. It’s just crazy to think this is actually happening even though it’s been 35 days since I last worked.

While we were shopping Dave said he wanted a BBQ since we’re allowed them on our balcony. I definitely miss having BBQ food so I was okay with it. He found one that wasn’t too big and was only $160 from Walmart.

It came in a box but putting it together was easy as Dave did it pretty quick. The best part was the food, we had sausages, potatoes and salad. Definitely going to be used a lot!

That was pretty much our day! We walked Drax as he was super sucky together for some reason but he’s good and asleep for the night.

Dave and I are now watching Absurd Planet on Netflix, it’s pretty funny and educational. It’s fun to see all the weird animals on this planet! Go check it out!

That’s it! Hope you’re all staying sane and staying safe!

COVID-19 Layoff: Day Nine

I definitely did not make today interesting.

Drax got walked five times today, I did not work out and I literally cross stitch all day. Literally worked on the same cross stitch all day and I can’t even show it because it’s a gift for my sister and I know she reads this blog! Hi Caitlin!

My sister also wants some bread so I made that today and it’s currently rising so tomorrow morning I can bake it!

Dave and I did go to Walmart to get a new puzzle but they were completely sold out so now were going to order one off of Chapters website because apparently their still delivering! We’ll probably do that tomorrow.

I did cut my boyfriend’s hair, which I’m happy about because he doesn’t look homeless anymore! Woohoo!

Only other thing to write about is that my dog is EXTREMELY suck today! He follows me everywhere I go, I give him attention, we played in an empty field today, he got treats, I just don’t know what his issue is. Knowing him it’s something simple like Dave and I are not sitting on the couch with him but now he’s finally asleep and we’ll start the whole thing over again tomorrow!

Stayed tuned for maybe fun adventures.

January Favourites 2020!

71PExzSq1jL._SL1500_Secret Clinical Antiperspirant Soft Solid – Free

Do you ever feel like no matter how much deodorant you put on you’re always sweating which eventually leads you to smelling like b.o? This was literally my life and I hated it. I would be at work doing a client and sweating for literally no reason, so I would sneak to the back to dap my pits and apply more deodorant so they don’t smell. Eventually one of my coworkers told me about this new antiperspirant that she had been using and she loves it. She sent me a picture, told me it’s pricey for deodorant but it was well worth it. At this point I’d try anything no matter the price so I bought it (thankfully it was on sale the first time) and holy sh*t this stuff actually works. Literally for weeks I was telling people to smell my armpits after I worked a full shift of doing hair and they didn’t make a face like I smelt like death of b.o. They come in different scents but with me having sensitive skin I decided to go with the ‘free’ to keep it clean. You apply two clicks of the product on at night before bedtime then you’re set in the morning. I have woken up in the middle of the night to apply this because I forgot to after my shower and didn’t want to smell. I’m obsessed. I got this at Walmart for $7.97 plus tax.

Black + Decker Crisp ‘N Bake Air Fryer Toaster Oven in Stainless Steel

My mum came over to my new apartment with my boyfriend to check out the place. Once she walked into the kitchen and saw our $10 toaster oven she said, “Well I know what I’m getting you for Christmas.” This thing wasn’t cute, it was white so you could see every piece of dirt, dust and food I couldn’t get off of it. It was so small you couldn’t even put two of those small personaly pizzas in let alone bread. Meanwhile with bread all it did was burn it so then you would under cook your toast so you didn’t end up with black toast. There is not one good thing I could say about our old toaster oven besides that I’m glad it’s gone. Sure enough, Christmas comes and my mum bought us a new toaster oven. On the day I didn’t get a good chance to look at it because that day is just hectic. On the 26th though, I had time to put stuff away and really get a chance to check things out. I set this bad boy up and got excited because it has an air fryer. I didn’t even know air fryers were going to be all the rage this year but I’ve always wanted one. The first thing we made in it was chicken wings, they were pretty damn good! Cleaning the oven after  was pretty easy (which I’m obsessed with doing now, it has to look good and work well so I take care of it), and it fits perfectly on our counter. Making bagels and toast is amazing and easy with no burning. I’m not sure where my mum got this but I found it on Walmart’s website for $99.98 plus tax.
