Throw Back Thursday: Furbys

” A Furby is an American electronic robotic toy released in 1998 by Tiger Electronics.” Says Wikipedia Furby page.

Furbys were the toy to have but no one really knew how to use them. They would sleep but you couldn’t wake them up or you couldn’t feed them because you they wanted to sleep.

Furbys ears moved, eyes blinked, the mouth and tongue moved as they talked. I did not know this but Furbys have their our language called Furbish, some samples are:

“Doo” means “What?”
“Doo-Dah” means ” Yes.”
“Boo” means “No.”
“Yoo” means “Why will you not play with me today?”
“Wee-tah-kah-loo-loo” means “Tell me a joke.”
“U-nye-way-loh-nee-way” means “Go to sleep now.”
“U-nye-loo-lay-doo” means “Do you want to play?”

You can look up some more phrases at their Wikipedia page.

These toys were pretty cool but like I said I had no idea how to use it properly. I actually still have my old one, I should put new batteries in and reset it to see if I can figure it out! I mean I feel like they would be really annoying now that I’m adult but it’s worth a try!

Furbys also came in all different colours so let me know what colour you or you child had or has!

Thanks for reading,

Maeg
