Throw Back Thursday: The Big Comfy Couch

Every young girl in the 90’s watched this show when it came out in 1992, now I was born in 1991 so it was a couple of years before I started watching it, but I still was in love with it.

There was a girl named Loonette and she had her doll friend named Molly, they both had a HUGE couch they sat on every day. It was a show that did storytelling, songs and dance and it was the best.

The best part of the show was when Loonette did her Clock Work Stretch! The stretch was her laying on a matt that looked like a clock and she would almost do yoga and some rolling around on it. Every little girl tried to do this on the floor and it seemed impossible when we were younger. It was truly the best.

There was a lot of other characters in the 25 min long show depending on what was going on, this show use to teach kids about all different thing in life without them even knowing. For example in this episode….

Of course every show sold toys that related to them, I have the Loonette dolly still to this day. Her face is hard plastic and the body part is normal stuff toy material. You could also get Molly and the couch I believe!

Well that was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid, let me know if you watched it or what you think of it now if it’s the first time you’re watching it.

Throw Back Thursday: Jurassic Park

“During a preview tour, a theme park suffers a major power breakdown that allows it’s dinosaur exhibit to run amok.” says IMDb on their Jurassic Park page.

This movie was just plain bada**, excuse the language, but it’s the truth. This was my favourite movie when I was a child and my favourite part was when the guy gets eaten off the toilet by a dinosaur.

Just picture a four year old with long, curly hair watching a man get eaten by a dinosaur, then yelling, “Again! Again!” My mum would rewind the VHS, yes VHS, then watch it all over again with a huge smile on my face.

Right now there’s three movies, Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and Jurassic Park III (2001). There’s a fourth one coming out this June 2015 – Jurassic World. I’m pumped and everyone who grew up with these movies is pumped. Now I’m not going to tell you about these movies because I want you to go watch them for yourselves! Once you guys have, let me know in the comments what you thought!

Trust me on this one, these movies are awesome!

Who doesn’t love dinosaurs?

Throw Back Thursday: Little Tikes Car

Remember the Flintstones and how they drove their “cars”? That’s what I use to call my Little Tikes car. Now i know these are still around with different colours and styles but my old style car is the best one.

My Little Tikes car had an orange body, yellow roof, black front bars, black wheels and tires and not to forget the fake white gas cap. You had to use your feet to move the car, it was the hardest thing when I was young. I was always a really short kid, reaching the ground wasn’t a common thing in my life which would make my feet get stuck under the car! The struggle was real back in the day.

The downside to this car was you could never go fast! You could only move as fast as your legs could move but even then, there wasn’t much leg room.

In my family, we will forever remember this car because it has a family story.

When I was about 4-5 I was sitting on the roof of the Little Tikes car, I was watching TV, I have no idea why my parents let me up there but it wasn’t a worry to them. In the house that I grew up in there was a long hallway that connected the bedrooms to the living room/kitchen/dining room. That day my sister was mad at me, so she came running down the hallway and pushed me off the car. I landed on my shoulder and broke my collarbone. I ended up having to wear a sling for a couple of weeks. My mum now has a Christmas ornament of the car!

All in all this little car was a pretty awesome toy and every kid loved it!

Throw Back Thursday: Skip It

Your entire life you work on skills to becoming an adult and some days being an adult just plain sucks. Bills, responsibilities, work, and all the stress, it can be a lot; it’s important to just take a moment, take a deep breath and remember to be a child again! Have fun with life!

Nothing is better than remembering that awesome thing we did, had, watched or listened to, that’s why I’m starting Throw Back Thursday! I’m going to write about something I did, had, watched or listened to from the 90’s!

Lets get started…

Skip It

Does anyone remember that awesome toy where you just skip over a ball that’s around your leg, again and again? I use to have one and, like every other girl in the 90’s, was obsessed with it!

It was a pretty pointless toy when you think about it now, but most toys are. Skip It had one of those old counters, that counted how many time it went around, girls would have mini competitions on who could get the highest number before someone tripped over it!

Tripping over it was the worst part of this toy, if you somehow missed it would fly right into your shin leaving a bruise, but of course after that happened we just kept skipping until it happened again.

Kids now and days would probably think Skip It is the most ridiculous thing since most play indoor with electronics. This was a pretty fun toy when I was a child and am curious to see if I could still use Skip It without killing me leg.

Let me know if you guys like this post and if I should continue it. Also if you did like this post tell me if you had this toy, what you thought of it or give me some suggestions!
